Had Lollipop for my Tegra Note but......

Received 5.1 a couple of weeks ago and now it takes around 8 minutes to load from off while it optimises 120 or so apps! The first start after installation I expected but not every time!
After 4 days of one a day messages to Nvidia customer care they asked me to take out the sd card, yes, it worked and I got a quick start. At what cost? The last message said,
I quote "Thanks for the update. If you only have Android 5.1, please perform a system update. This bug was fixed in the Android 5.1.1 OTA update."
There you go, they fixed it! BUT..... Where is the damned update? I have checked the settings/update but nothing.

well, it could be that they added this bug to the "fix list" for an upcoming ota 5.1.1 update. maybe in the next few weeks we will get that update once it's rolling out.

With 5.x being a bit buggy for all devices that got it on the first run, I expected there to be some glitches on the first 5.X update. Hopefully we will get a pretty quick OTA that fixes the last few glitches that are there for those of us that do use an SD card to maximize app space and whatnot.

Overall until that OTA drops I am remaining on 4.4.2 as it still runs pretty darn slick and I still have no complaints about the abilities of this tab. For the price it still impresses me.

It may be improving?

Now on week two with Nvidia help, lots of questions but no solutions yet. They are still telling me I need 5.1.1 but my tablet with 5.1 tells me I am up to date! Nvidia have suggested a cache clean out which of course didn't work and seem to think there is a 5.1.1 update out there for the Tegra Note.
Anyway, I have removed all my apps from the sd card and reinstalled the ones I need onto the tablet. Then removed the card, gave it a full format on my pc and put it back............All seems to be ok!
Startup is now quicker than ever and shutdown almost instant. I have decided that I will only use my sd for storage and not allow any apps on there, perhaps will keep it running?

If there really is an update to 5.1.1 and nvidia says it should be out, then you have to contact the support of the manufacturer (EVGA, XOLO, Gigabyte, Advent etc) because they are the ones which get the updates from nvidia and are responsible for publishing it to us

I can only say it again.

I strongly recommend a factory reset right after the update.

Then restore from backup.
If u encounter any wierd stuff, factory reset again and restory manually, which is kind of a pain.

I did a backup restore and for me its workin fine.
I still dont have any battery problems. Just grabbed the tab which was layin around idle for roughly 48 hours and it only lost 11% in 2 days.

Quick Question. For those of you who install 5.1, do a clean full wipe, everything appears good then things start getting wonky after a time, are you using an SD card or not?

I feel that after doing all the wipes and install, its only after I move a bunch of apps to the SD card that things start to act up again. But I haven't spent much more time on it to confirm or not on my own.

And do you have the 1640 device? Hope the next update will come to all, actually 5.1 has a lot of bugs and for lot of users seems the tablet unuseable.
Yes, 1640

Took out my SD card, did a clean reinstall, put back just a few of my apps and all seemed well, quick start and almost instant shut down.
I reckoned problem solved so I formatted my SD and put it back (but not put any apps on it) Still seemed to be ok. But now after a couple of weeks it has started to play up and I took out the card which has improved it (for the moment).
Nvidia tell me there is a 5.1.1 update to fix it and are looking into it. Advent tell me there is NO authorised 5.1 and certainly NO 5.1.1 !

I did a backup and factory reset after I installed 5.1. Reinstalled my sd card without wiping it and everything is running great. I got the update 3 weeks ago.

Can't you use super tool to flash back to 4.3 then factory reset?

Mine is working great so far. Compared to 4.3 it has less lag and over 100MB ram more ram available! My Antutu score on 4.3 was 37292, on 5.1 its 39222! I didn't even do factory reset.
Sorry took forever to reply those who quoted me. In-laws came to town and life turned upside down for a while!
Anyway, yes, I went back from 4.4.2 to 4.3 but it was laggy then too. I did TWO times factory reset after updating to 5.1 WITHOUT auto restoring of apps at first. Everything was good for a day and then the slow down begins. YES, I do use an SD card, basically just video files -- movies for my daughter to watch. No programs on it. It did do the optimizing thing each time I restarted the tablet which was driving me nuts.

I don't game at all, and basically I just use this tablet for the web and media. Rarely ever use bluetooth with it, an don't ever use GPS with it (it was wonky while I was on 4.4.2/4.3).

If there's a 5.1.1, I certainly hope it gets pushed soon. I'm here in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Just checked and it indicates my tablet is up to date....

EDIT: I'm using Samsung 32gb EVO microSD... So not like it's a slow card or anything.... I'll remove the card and run it for a day or two to see....

The update we have so far has made my tablet useless, i rarely use it now.. and cant buy a shield eithe rcause nvidia pulled them back.. and all issues with lag, heat etc is not solved if u wipe everything and install fresh again.. done that twice already no help.. the problem is the nvidia tegra services that keeps running nonstop in the background pushing cpu to 100% thats what causing the lag...

Is there a link for the L factory image? I'm needing to pull some blobs from this device for development of another tegra4. The aosp builds do not included drm blobs or nv optimized powerhal ( includes a stub version) . If anyone can pull these I would be grateful

lib/libdrmdecrypt.so
lib/liboemcrypto.so
vendor/lib/drm/libdrmwvmplugin.so
vendor/lib/libwvdrm_L1.so
vendor/lib/libwvm.so
vendor/lib/libWVStreamControlAPI_L1.so

Can anyone plz explain me whats happening

My Note 7 is rooted and i use 4.4.2.
So i first get the OTA for Lollipop of 446 MB and then i download it.
The weird stuff starts after i download the update.
This is how it goes.
1. After the downloading the update i get the option of "RESTART TO INSTALL".
2. After 10 seconds it begins the flashing process.
3. Then the Note 7 successfully restarts.
4. The installation begins and then suddenly i get this
"INSTALL UNTRUSTED PACKAGE ?"
THIS CAN NOT BE UNDONE.
- NO
- YES - Install Untrsuted Zip
so i go with the YES option.
5. Then again another message appears
" INSTALLATION ABORTED,
REBOOTING"
So, what is going on exactly, this is the official update released by nvidia, so why is it not being installed ?? :\
