I've done more googling than I'd like to admit..

I thought selecting "5Ghz preferred" in hotspot settings would broadcast both frequencies and nudge 5Ghz capable devices to that band but in practice none of my 2.4Ghz devices are able to detect the network at all. I even restricted my PC to 2.4ghz which then couldn't see the AP anymore either. I keep having to manually change bands when the need arises. Anyone know what's going on, a way to confirm both bands are broadcasting, or a fix for this?
Magisk rooted edge (2021) trying to avoid bootloops 😅😅 but had so many already it's whatever.

also, anyone know of a good way to modify TTL on Android device hosting the mobile hotspot? I tried iptables but I don't think our kernel supports mangling natively. Perhaps someone can mention if they've tried any compatible kernels?

forgive my ignorance, compatible kernels?
broadly described as, a kernel that supports A11, TTL mangling with iptables, and doesn't break any other functionality of the edge 2021. ill update if my own research ends with success on the TTL part.

As for Hotspot issue, I'm still lost on how to make it appear for 2.4ghz devices. I've read, and if im understanding correctly, that devices that use band steering advertise differently and 2.4ghz devices may not detect it at all if passive scanning. idk if that's my issue because none of my devices, inc. my PC(when set to detect 2.4ghz ONLY) see the hotspot network when set to "5ghz preferred". Unless every single device i own scans passively(unlikely) i think it's something else.
Haven't had time to dive deeper, i.e how to make sure my travel router scans actively instead of passively, I'll get to it eventually, forgive my ramblings😅😅
