OMJ I got it working- but had to turn off zip signature verification. In fact, this is the case of all zip installs. I suspect that it is related to the fact that on install flash the scrn says data was decrypted w/the default password, & the verification signature failed (md5). This is even the case when I used the rom's tweaks to flip the order of the sdcard's name.

The vid that Root Junky made for the flashing twrp for the htc 10 showed to cancel using a password & to leave the (data or card) unencrypted. I never got that screen.

I was following the instructions on the u11 twrp thread- Start: as you corrected my syntax- fastboot flash recovery twrp.img & Finish: fastboot reboot.

Even the modules fm the rom's tweaks failed in the same manner until I unchecked the box for verifying the zip.

I trust your code, (constantly updating right after htc sends slw updates is gonna keep your coding fresh) but who knows what'll be if I flash other packages?

BTW, the tweak to long-press the Recent Apps button & assign Menu is a real big boon. It allowed me to use my fave & unfortunately outdated & no-longer-developed app- Loot … no menu button cut it off at the knees. It was well planned out, & a feature set that was just right, & I couldn't find a good replacement. Now that I have a Menu button; I was able to pull Loot out of the cobwebs… thanks! All the best, oldwolf
zip verification should have been disabled by default...I've never had uncheck

that video from root junky is obsolete

my ROMs are always based on the stock Sprint ROM, I don't use other bases even if they are newer :)

"Disabled by default…" by who? Team Win,or you in the install script? Also I'm guessing you meant to say that you never had TO uncheck… what, if anything, does it mean that I had to uncheck it?, & also the Magisk 14 update zip in the Magisk internal storage directory when trying to flash that zip in twrp Install. I believe I had to uncheck zip verify to install that as well when zip verify caused install to fail… I am concerned that something went amiss while installing twrp & I always seem to have to go w/out zip verify. Tkis conjures images of nightmares when installing stuff like Xposed… very under the hood stuff & I understand zip verification is to ensure nothing is corrupt…

What is 'based on the Stock Sprint ROM referring to? What is a ROM's base &swhat does it do. Can you refer me to threads, ol this stuff; I'll be happy to look them up!

BTW, really like Hrs:Mins: _&_ Secs tweak in Notif Bar clock. Would it be possible / feasible to be able to change the color of those digits?

BTW, now that I've indulged in HTC modding w/ROMs, I've been considering flashing other kernels… ElementalX allows vibration adjustment & the coming colder weather means fone inside belt-pouch, under my jacket/parka will be hard to hear & it'll be great to crank up vibration to know I'm getting a call…

As always, much appreciated &

TIA. oldwolf

disabled by twrp...I've never had to uncheck...maybe it's possible the newer twrp enables by default but I wouldn't worry about it...

re: stock rom...the stock rom from HTC...I start with it, and modify...removing bloatware, adding mods & tweaks, etc

I believe the clock mod does have color options that I can add...I'll have to look into

OMJ, thanks for the answers… I always thought that zip veirfy was to ensure a bugged version didn't slip by, or that a corrupt, but installable (marginal problem that could be major issuei if prob surfaces fm code that went astray, incorrect value, etc.).

Please advise, what about advisability of flashing a diff kernel i.e. ElemwetalX, it allows for adjusting the Vibration of fone, & w/fone in belt pouch, under layers of sweaters & coats or parkas, coome Fall & Winter- Vibration becomes important, esp those whose hearing isn't "20/20" ?

Finally, I'm really into the Edge Sense Plus (got Premiere ver; now all I need is my own FW update to remember all the settings for ES+ ?) Now that I'm in the Bad Boyz user club, how do I get the same graphic you use onto my sig? I wanna support the ROM & show my colors!

Oldwolf

p.s. I anticipate it is only an issue of how to get the image, once Iave it, I should be able to navigate the personal settings / forum page!

maybe @Captain_Throwback can chime in on the zip verification thing...

I stick w/ the stock kernel but I believe ElementalX is compatible, best to ask in the ROM thread for others opinion

I'm a fan of @LeeDroids Shortcutter, initially only for the additional QS tiles u can add, but now he has a sweet sidebar that can be triggered from edge sense....it's included in my ROM...no need for Edge Sense Plus ;)

re:sig... ROM thread again bud...

Zip signature verification in TWRP is only useful for zip signed by AOSP's test keys. Most zips signed on the forum use those, so it can be used in those cases. However most zips are unsigned, or signed by other/OEM keys, which will fail TWRP's verification.

So, leaving the option unchecked by default is usually the best/easiest way to go to avoid zip verification errors.

Capt. Throwback, tnx for chiming in w/good, clear explanation- originally I thought maybe I did something wrong while installing twrp. Where in twrp 3.1.1-0 is there a Settings menu to make that unchecked option the default behavior. Love how backup names now have current date… big help keeping NAND BU's organized. FWIW, when install was done, scrn said Press the power button; but quick press did nothing, long neither. So I drilled down to reboot into bootloader & then recovery & then to reboot to system & wasn't sure what was up w/the pushing Power button not responding- hearing fm the one who brought all of us twrp to U11 allayed my fears. BTW, will partitioning the Ext SD card wipe all data? *suggestion* it'd be gr8 to have separate slots to run & test diff roms, a prev version of twrp for made it possible to have diff rom slots either Droid Razr or GS4… would itbe possible to implement on twrp for U11?
thanks again for your work that is such a big benefit to U11 users!
