How do we root and unroot without losing data?

I have a Sprint Galaxy Note 3.
I love the phone, and I love the functionality.
What I hate is that I have several applications with data, that I am unable to restore to the phone from a previous Titanium backup, because the phone needs to be rooted.
I love using my Direct TV Genie Go app, but it will not work on a rooted phone.

1) Does anyone know a quick and painless way to root the phone without losing data?
2) Once the phone is rooted, I want to restore my data, and then UN-root the phone, does anyone know how to do this?
3) Anyone know how to circumvent the "root" security present in a lot of today's Software?

Answers indexed to your original questions...

1. Root merely injects root, and does not, to the best of my knowledge, undo your data...

See Chainfire thread for details, it installs superuser and stock recovery,

2. No need to restore data if rooting, see answer to question 1. To unroot the phone, I believe you can try the unroot option within the app, though I'm unclear if this works, and don't know why you'd want to try it, but I got pretty unsettled just taking the screenshot, afraid I'd hit the continue button.

The full restore Skunk Ape1 return to stock is the only way of which I'm aware to safely get back to factory condition. You're data is gone unless you reroot, reinstall recovery (kind of defeats the goal) and restore a backup. That stated, you could just reinstall using the Google backup and restore feature, but that'll just put some settings and your apps back. Never use it, so couldn't tell ya. If root is gone, Titanium Backup isn't going to work anyway, so, I don't see many options for you here.

3. @freeza kernels that are Selinux permissive do show official device status, but I'm unclear if they will circumvent security to the extent you're seeking. There are also Xposed modules that include specific security bypass, but again, I'm not sure how well they work. I've read of folks running into conflicts with other apps using these tools, but I don't recall the specifics. I'd investigate them prior to using, and consider starting your trek here, at the end.
