Yes, I noticed improvements on the AF of the 2x and a higher quality of the zoom on the 3.5x (not a revolution, but still some improvements)
More fluidity of the system, fixed the date bug on the lockscreen
I don't have much time to fully test the camera, that's what I quickly noticed
Date bug was probably just a translation issue. Nice you mentioned, i haven't noticed that.👍🏻

It sounds as an important update... also for the improvements to battery in standby mode
Well that's something you won't notice directly i think. You'll probably have to give it some days to settle. I'm kinda disappointed about that update since notifications are still not visible on some apps in dark mode. That was the only thing I hoped they'll fix. Everything else was fine for me.

On my lock screen the date is displayed as 30 3, Thursday. Is it properly displayed as Thursday 30 March now? Could you share a screenshot of how it looks for those who are not enrolled in the beta programme?

Well as I said, support will say anything you like to hear. Nothing they announce to fix will get fixed more likely than them saying nothing about it....

Seeing the global x90 pro getting monthly security updates means also the promise for 3 android upgrades clearly doesn't apply to the x90pp.

Just received 20.1 trial as well and all ok so far. Will post some more photos in the other thread soon.

It's fixed a big undocumented bug/problem from the last build where I wasn't able to sideload apk files and I read other users having the same issue previously.

Can you check if by chance the update restored vivo iManager and/or Vivo appstore. That would be the most likely explanation - because if they are removed you cannot sideload apk files - restoring them fixes it. Now any update by Vivo could reactivate some of their spyware/bloatware apps - and likely even in that case make them impossible to remove anymore.

Happened with phone and messages on some update - they used to be removable with adb but now this is not possible anymore. At least they weren't restored but that is a thing vivo could easily do too with a system update.

For me neither but I don't know if it's related to the phone triggering something because of restricting the rights with app ops (and now unable to reverse anything as it locked me out of additional rights - but I will not hard reset it as I don't want to invest any more time in this crapware and only have to endure another 2 months or maybe reconsider and wait for Pixel 8 Pro).

Also I don't see anywhere where you could download a rom for local install.

But is the update officially released? If nobody has received anything other than trial updates, I guess it's just not ready yet

Don't get it on trial either. Clicking the trial button makes system update query vivo servers, and vivo account also some requests.

Also many requests to beacons.gvt2.com
And so on. That's it.

So - it's June and X90PP are still rocking March security patches - while Samsung and google are already rolling out June patch...

Security Updates only every 3 months, in the first year. What will it be once X100 is out? Usually vivo software support then takes an instant drop.

And while the X90Pro Funtouch is the only Vivo phone in the Android 14 beta channel, of course X90PP doesn't appear there. 1 or 2 android updates is still the most likely answer to the original question. I guess 2 because Vivo has to improve and a single one is even too little for Chinese users nowadays. I would guess A14 and then a Final update to A16. And security updates dropping to 6 months frequency after 1.5 years. The update to A16 may then well be the second last update the phone receives, with a single security patch update around 6 months later. (or at the 4 year mark)

None are promised. 1-2 based on history of the China OS phones. E.g x70 pro+ the direct successor only got a single one so far from Android 11 to 13. It never got 12 and security updates arrived late. No monthly updates on security updates but rather 2-3 monthly in it's first 18 months. The funtouch OS x70 pro+ on the other hand received Android 12 and 13 as well as more timely updates.

I think no China OS vivo ever received more than 2 major upgrades and that's when they didn't skip one.

Security Updates run for 2.5 years or so.
Basically Vivo considers your phone to be junk after that time and expects you to upgrade. Resale value after 2 years therefore next to nothing....
I have x note, it is getting updates not rarely at all. May security patch.

Bit pants but can live without dark mode.
Been keeping light mode on recently, on my edge 30 ultra, in preparation for the bugs of the X90PP

New update 20.1 trial with huge update and optimization release now for X90 PP with FAMOUS ANDROID SECURITY PATCH MARCH 2023
    2
The x70 pro plus last update bump security patch to February 2023
The X90 PP will follow shortly
Ah I guess this shortly is vivo speak for nothing happening in 17 days .. (and then the staged rollout using trial updates will take at least 7 days more for stable updates once it's ever published...

X90PP still having received a single security update since it was released (December patch end of December) likely that one was considered important as by that time many reviews written.

Stating something as a fact that doesn't happen...
Seems we have to be lucky if that crappy software with a 9.8 rated actively exploited bug is updated every three months. Sales of x90pro+ must have been dismal vs the expectations after the huge marketing campaign so now just treat it like a budget phone update wise...

Btw the march security patches by google include a fix for a zero day exploit which is actively exploited (full phone can be taken over, bug in the Samsung modem) and it's enough to know the telephone number of the user... Several vivo phones affected, amongst them x30,x50,x60 series... No patch yet for them.. Samsung and google published the updates for affected phones already, vivo hasn't. But yeah who cares, it's just a 9.8 /10 critical bug, right?

There was a 9.7 level bug in the February update that applies to the x90pp. It's very likely it's actively exploited too otherwise it would not get such a high score... This no update policy is simply a security nightmare by vivo.
Can only hope that google announces to remove certification for phones with slow updates else vivo likely won't improve...

The promise is only for funtouch OS, and while the x70 pro plus with funtouch OS got android 12 and 13, origin OS only got 13 and never 12....

With the x70pro+ the real precessor of the x90pro+ I would not hold much hope. Especially seeing it will enter March on December security update which for a new flagship is simply intolerable. Xiaomi and BBK seem to outdo each other in who can provide slower updates, but BBK clearly wins on the we can provide less major upgrades than any other major producer...

And no no bootloader unlock/root for x90 series! So no way for AOSP.
