Just out of curiosity, how much of that space do you actually use?
I have the 128GB but I have over 50GB free space and the biggest use of storage is pics and videos (13.5 GB). Even those I backup on a computer and old, old pics, like my kids at the zoo when they were young, I don't keep those on my phone anymore.
I stopped storing music on my phone some years ago and only stream now.

I guess I just wonder if you have other things that take up space or you just like to have a ton of free space, etc
Since I just accidentally wiped my phone and haven't copied my FLAC music back over yet, I can't say exactly, but it's probably at least 300 GB, but possibly closer to 400 GB. I've never streamed music. :)

Edit: I was waiting for a 256 GB Pixel to come out, but by the time it was available, I knew I needed 512 GB, so I kept waiting and waiting. I was very happy when the 512 GB Pixel 6 Pro was made available, although by now they should be having 1 TB models.

I had a feeling you were gonna say music., Thanks for the answer, buddy

Google Pixel 7
For me it's the rumors of flat display --yes--?
Camera sensor moving to a better type. Have to much better than 7pro, or why upgrade?
Thin Bezels (&flat display) --yes--?
Of course the $200 G store credit helps but ends days after typical fall release date.

Pixel 8 Pro Temperature Sensor Leak Is Our First Look at Google's Upcoming Phone

e91dbccf12d3fad5ce436d8c16739eb6.jpg

The Pixel 8 will apparently offer parents a new way to check their kids’ temperature rather than sticking a thermometer in their mouth or feeling the child’s forehead. According to leaked images from well-known rumor-monger Kuba Wojciechowski and 91mobiles, the next major iteration of Google’s Pixel series will include an infrared heat sensor. Notably, this is also our first look at the phone itself outside of renders.

As shown in a video that seems to be an internal demonstration of the feature, the heat sensor is located in the camera bar, towards the right side of the phone. Users can point the camera close to their head and rotate it toward their temple to see if they’re staying at a healthy 98.6 degrees.

After the video was up all morning, YouTube took down the video saying it was against its terms of service.

This feature could be used in other apps to find the temperature of external objects as well, though it’s interesting how the sensor needs to be held so close to an object to read it, and how long it takes to get an accurate reading. It could be a push toward more health-related apps, as Apple has similarly pushed toward body and temperature scanning. Whether this feature could be useful information for Google-owned Fitbit or another fitness watch is another story.

We’ve already seen signs of this new sensor in leaked early Pixel 8 Pro renders, but there’s been nothing official from Google itself. Images so far seem to show the company is making the phone’s corners rounder while retreating from the 7 Pro’s slightly beveled display. The leaked images also show that Google is reportedly sticking with the single rear bar for its camera mount, though the Pixel 8 could have all three camera sensors within one module compared to the 7’s two.

Though the tech giant recently showed off its new Pixel 7A and the Pixel Fold, the latest I/O conference didn’t offer any hints about what to expect from Google’s next version of its mainline smartphones. Google likes to launch its phones in October, so there’s still a good few months for the company to make waves. Other rumors hint Google’s next phone could run on the company’s own Tensor G3 chip. The $1,800 Fold, with all its expensive screens, still only runs on the older G2, the same chip that powers the 7 and 7A. A new processor could help power the new camera plus extra sensors, though we’ll still have to wait and see.

I'm waiting for the first disabled prototypes to show up on eBay. Waiting for bootloader screen photographs. We're due and I love the yearly pattern.

I wish we had a sneak peek at I/O but that probably would have really ate into fold and tablet sales.

My two biggest gripes with the 7Pro are how heavy it is and how crap the software is.

Take me back to Lollipop or Marshmallow because Android just gets worse with every new generation.

A Samsung Note 3 with faster hardware and a brighter screen would make me amazingly happy.

You know, I never really worried about the curve on this screen until last week, I finally put a Whitestone Dome glass screen cleaner on here. I just had a film type before. In 2 days, I could see a very fine, barely noticeable, hairline crack in the Dome, shaped like an S on the top half of my phone.

I totally blame the curve screen for that
Nah whitestone dome is crap imo. Had it on my s20+(2 phones, wife and mine) and my 6 pro. Those things are garbage as the corners chip easily from just being in your pocket. I gave up all together and run the phone without a screen protector. I stick with dbrand grip cases so it protects my screen enough from drops and I dropped my phone's a lot of I wasn't breaking them. Also the dbrand case makes my phone feel like a flat screen. Side edges are high enough to make it feel that way.
Back to topic. Id invest in a cheaper screen protector as theres one on Amazon,of course I forget which one, that works pretty well with fingerprint.

Well, I have the same screen protector on mine and I have no cracks at all. You should have a 2nd protector to install so go with that. I don't think the curved screen "caused" the crack but for sure this curved screen obsession has GOT TO STOP!!!!!!!!!!
There is absolutely, unequivocally, no logical reason whatsoever for a curved screen on a cell phone...PERIOD!!!! It all stems from another obsession for NO BEZELS. Another stupid idea. Sony is the last bastion for doing it right on the front of the phone. I am not a fan of their choice of resolution, but when it comes to placing all the necessary sensors WITHOUT altering the glass screen at all, they got it right.
So I hope that Google, as well as all the other OEM's out there in LA-LA-LAND get with the program and just go back to a true FLAT screen. I don't even like the 2.5 curved edges. FLAT, FLAT, FLAT just the way ALL smart phones used to be!
This way we can also go back to $10.00 tempered glass screen protectors instead of this outrageous $50.00+ nightmare for Whitestone! You can bet that Whitestone is lobbying the OEM's to keep the curved glass with kickbacks!
Right. The only curved screen I actually liked was the old LG G-Flex. Not the 2nd gen. The first gen. That was a nice phone imo. Curved phone with flat edges

For me to upgrade from the P7 Pro to the P8 Pro the battery life has to be vastly improved. I can't see that happening as Tensor 3 will be manufactured by Samsung so have to consider something else. I'm thinking of possibly going with the Xperia 1 V but costs a fair bit

I wonder how much the price will go up. Seeing how Google prices the Fold the same as Samsung does, it wouldn't surprise me to see a $1K or higher base price.
We'll see. Google, other than this new Fold, has always been pretty fair with pricing. $999 could happen, since the P6P and P7P were both $899 on release day

I want the Pixel Fold, but not with last year's processor and never a good idea to buy the first gen of anything, car, phone, anything, since there will always be bugs. I also wanted a $1,300 drone, in which case I'd feel guilty also buying a new phone. I decided the drone was a want, not a need and have no clue what I'd use a drone for so got that out of my system.

So I suspect I'll go with the 8P. My wife always drags her feet and doesn't need a new phone (P8), but last year's BB deal was too good to turn down. Traded in our old phones (7+7P) and used the BB credit to buy a much needed color laser printer.

Yeah those deals are the biggest reason why I'll go for the P8P

No. Google would need to beat (not nearly meet) the battery life of the s23 ultra. The phone will be a year newer so meeting last year's king (s23 ultra) wouldn't be enough. For this to happen Google would need to utilize better modems so the phone didn't work so hard to find cell signal, a 3nM processor, and some sort of cooling. Google is fixated on using garbage hardware covered in band-aids via "awesome software," so I don't see that happening. It's always "next year they're gonna release the sacred unicorn pixel ULTRA!" That never happens next year never comes. They won't beat Samsung in anything except picture quality. I'll wait 5 years for the pixel 12. I went from the 2xl to the 7p, and I'll wait just as long this time.

I'm 100% upgrading now. The free pixel watch 2 sold me. I won't keep it for myself, it's just too small, but either my wife will get it, or I'll just sell it. Either way it'll bring the price of the pixel 8 pro down a lot for us. I'm also excited about the tensor upgrades, the temp sensor, and the flat screen. Can't wait.

OK, seeing how bright the P8P will be, I'm definitely upgrading!

Saw on Twitter that the P8/P8P will have SEVEN years of updates! It's not mentioned if it's full OS updates or just security but that's pretty huge! ✌️

I love my Pixel 7 Pro but here are my personal biggest gripes

    1) Too heavy
    2) Screen not bright enough
    3) Overheats too easily

Has anyone heard any rumors regarding weight?
I read the new phones will be much brighter.
I read the new chipset is designed to run cooler.

If the new phones are lighter than the 7 versions and they are also brighter and lighter, I'm definitely upgrading.

Depends on whether the cell service modem has been improved.

i am wondering how many of you guys gonna upgrade your phone to pixel 8 pro?

there is zero reason for me, as i also have s23 ultra lol
Not anytime soon but maybe when it has an established developer ecosystem and I figure out how to buy it new for a few hundred dollars.

Ironically,l I was just thinking about this today. When T-Mob paid off my Verizon P6P which was still in perfect condition I knew I had a solid Trade-in on the P7P and with the trade-in, I paid off the P7P right away so now I'm sitting on a solid value for the P8P. Since they're keeping the 8 Pro the same size (I like a bigger phone), I'll go that way and it will surely be released with Android 14.

I get the allure of the S23Pro but it's too much "stuff". I prefer to be a minimalist
    6
That would be pretty impressive but I'm expecting an awful G715 GPU. New GN2 camera sensor.

Same 5300 modem but new Release 16 features that debut with Android 14. There's visible work starting toward Release 17 in the firmware.

The 8 Pro could be a very compelling beast. Hopefully, battery and charging speeds have kept up.

The S23 Ultra seems good but I'm not a fan of One UI or the camera processing.
Pixel UI is the best Android skin in my opinion.

Welp, the Tensor G3 benchmarks were posted. And unfortunately, it put on a rather disappointing performance scoring only around 8% better than the Tensor G2 overall.

vv Pixel Phone History Posted Below vv

Ever since that lawsuit smacked Google's phone department, they just haven't really been improving much at all with their cellphone lineup - which is rather upsetting considering how good they were before that lawsuit case had occurred.

For anyone who is not aware, the Pixel 1, 2, 3 and 4 series phones had all released prior to this incident. Then, Google's phone department got sued and lost over $200M (and if you were following this case as it went down, you can unfortunately blame Apple for this). Then, the Pixel 5 released, followed by the 6 and 7 series. The Pixel 5 was the first phone series that Google had released after the lawsuit. At this point in time, Google was attempting to make a financial recovery with their Pixel lineup. That is why the Pixel 5 series was so limited with its options and internal specifications. But then, a year later, we got the Pixel 6 series which went back to a similar setup to what Google had with their Pixel phones before the lawsuit: a Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro (if the lawsuit never occurred, their naming convention may have stayed the same and so the new phones at the time would have been called the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6XL). Anyway, another year then passed and we got the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.

So, needless to say at this point, but Google has been going out of their way to (internally) make their phone production since the Pixel 4 series more financially stable. That is why they had released the Tensor processor lineup. Because the Tensor lineup was just Google encasing older components into a new housing. But, if they had advertised their flagship phones utilizing chips that were 2, 3 or 4 years old and outdated, nobody would be interested in purchasing them. That is why they had created Tensor! Because with Tensor, they could use whichever older components that they wanted to (and could still afford during their financial recovery) in order to power the phone and could still advertise that their phones were using a brand new CPU - The Tensor - in order to still pique some interest in their flagship phone lineup!

Anywho, my apologies for the lengthy comment. I just wanted to clarify this stuff as I often see people complaining about things that have occured due to what was written above. A little clarification often goes a long way =P.
