Hi
I know this is a dumb question, but I am not able to ActiveSync while HSPA is turned on. Can I do that, with Tilt I could do that I think. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Hah. I found the mistake I was doing. I had to turn on Internet Sharing before ASyncing them.
Thanks

Are you talking about syncing the local SnapVue instance ?
I noticed that with the "ThaiHugo" ROM, the USB tool is different than the one provided by MoDaCo's USB tool.

The USB tool that is in ThaiHugo's ROM , IMHO, performs WAY worse than the MODaCo's USB tool. ModaCo's USB tool always get's a sync, and always launches Windows Mobile Device center by itself.

I also noticed that when trying to "plug cable in firest (TYPO!!) the USB tool will try get on HSDPA network.

So I also found out that disabling the SnapVue Modem will help get an ActiveSync.

Will try your trick too

@ ROM builders out there : Please put back the modaco USB tool, without the typo, and it's also a little different in text Attach/Detach to vista

that tool seems way better.

Yes. You are right, even the internet sharing is not always working. It is highly unstable and if you turn on internet sharing, you have to change the activeSynch Connection properties on Vista side to allow data connections, and you will lose the internet on vista (strangely liberated SnapVUE with Modaco used let Internet on both the sides even without turning data connections allowed on ActiveSync). I will try yours.
Thanks

This is called the placebo effect. You think it performs better so it performs better.

The modaco version is the same exe with the text ressource edited.

Try to use high performance power mode toget reliable connection.
But if it make you happy, I'll add it in my next versions

I didn't want it to perform noticably worse

For 2-3 months I've been using nothing but the ModaCo liberation tools and USB tools with the original ROM, in this time, (always using high performance) I've rarely had to "play" with "attach to vista" , "detach from Vista" , it would work on first try. SP1 was installed

After flashing the new ROM with GPS enabled, the provided USB tool, with the typo in it, rarely is succesful in establishing the activesync connection, one really has to go to comm manager and shut down the Radio.

All the other settings always remained default after a clean vista install + SP1

The problem occured to me instanly after trying the new ROM, and because of the typo in it "attach cable f i r e s t I seriously doubted the originality of the tool. It looks like a modified modaco version.

I agree placebo effects are real, but that's when looking for a cure, which I wasn't.

If all that is changed in there is text, then I am really in the dark with my problem, as everything pointed to the adapted tool until your remark.

I use the ModaCo version (which is just the original with the spelling error fixed and the Vista texted added) from the liberation; however, I can not reliably synch the two sides when my radio is operating (even on GSM only). This is also during High Power and the Shift plugged in.

It doesn't really bother me all that much, the synch is quick and I can easily connect and disconnect the "mobile phone" without much concern. It just highlights that the problem you describe is probably one of those bugs a computer gets for what ever reason that is not similar to anyone else.

It may be some program on the Vista side is running that is upsetting the "USB" connection.

If you use the modaco tool, does it helps?
I have not installed MoDaCo's ShiftPack+Liberation after installing your ROM. I will try that.

Onething I noticed that is different from Stock ROM+Liberation is turning on ActiveSync (USB Connection) will sacrifice the Internet connection on Vista. You still could surf on WinMo side, but not on Vista, even if you turn on Internet Sharing on WinMo side. It seems that applet is not working at all. If I hook it to my Tilt and turn on Internet Sharing on Tilt, I could surf on Vista while I turn off modem on Shift. I will try to install MoDaCo shift liberation package and let you know the results.
=============== I have installed MoDaCo tool and tried ==================
Results after installing MoDaCo ShiftPack.Liberate tool:
1. The system eliminates you from ActiveSyncing altogether by having to USBConnects.
2. You have to uninstall ShiftPack.Liberate and hard-reset your WinMo to re-establish ActiveSync again.

3. The only stable solution is turn of Modem and you get ActiveSync, once you are done syncing turn on modem and sometimes you need to restart Vista (don't know the reason yet, why I have to restart Vista though) to get internet established on Vista Side, WinMo side no problem.
thanks
