You may want to update to the latest stock Asus firmware version 10.6.1.14.10. Please try to update your latest Asus firmware before trying the CM11 again to prevent bricking your device... Download the latest firmware from Asus website with the SKU for your device and use your cwm recovery to install the Asus firmware. Please do not use the "Wipe" in your bootloader menu. It may brick your device. You should be good to go after you update your bootloader.... Good luck...:fingers-crossed:
Unfortunately not working :\ States "installation aborted", amde sure to download the correct one too, WW version on mine.
says "cant copy meta-inf/com/google/android/updat-binary"

Re=edit: using fastboot to install instead, working so far

Good to hear that you updated your bootloader....;) Now you can install the recommended recovery for your cm11. I think that it is cwm 6.0.4.7 for kitkat 4.4.x.. When you are done, you should be good to flash your cm11 nightly... Good luck and report back.....:fingers-crossed:

Well now the problem is unlocking it; apparently the unlock tool no longer works. Giving me an "unknown error; may be network connection..."
any other method to unlock or am I stuck now?

Unlocking the bootloader should survive bootloader updates, so you shouldn't need to unlock again. Did you lose the "The device is unlocked" message in the upper left corner when booting?

When your device is unlocked, it can not be relocked....:) boot back into your bootloader, you should see your updated firmware version and the device is unlocked message....;)

Oops, you beat me, _that. Haha

Options without USB connection?

I can't connect to my TF700 via USB (it's not returning a device descriptor), and since I've get the same result on several computers using two different 3rd party cables (my dog ate the original), I've resigned myself to the fact that something is wrong with the USB circuit/logic in the tablet.

I'm running the latest stock bootloader, and it is unlocked.

Is there a way to flash a custom and/or rooted ROM using stock recovery in the unlocked bootloader?

Thanks,

--Mike

Unfortunately not.
I think it's more likely the 3rd party cables are the problem. It would be worth it to get an original one from Asus. Without fastboot or adb access it's hard to recover from even a small mistake...
Did you try this: Open Device Manager on the PC, connect/disconnect the tablet and check if anything changes in Device Manager.

Yeah, it shows up (and disappears upon disconnect) as an unknown device with an unknown hardware ID. When I hook it up to a Windows 8.1 machine it is a little more verbose, showing the query and failure to receive the device descriptor. I don't know what that corresponds to on the connection level. i.e. Does that mean no data connection at all or enough of a connection to trigger the PNP queries, but not to get a reply.

I was suspicious of the first, eBay-sourced cable, but the second is a much nicer, better constructed cable (which guarantees nothing...).

I guess I'll have to wait until I return from my vacation and have access to my tools and meters before I can verify the cables and/or order an OEM cable.

textfree and textnow

i was instructed to post my question here since im a complete newbie,so please bear with me for a few :)

ok some insight,I have a tf700 tablet running the latest cromi-x and latest twrp and firmware...so I think in up to date
I love cromi-x for the xloud mod and the noozxoide mod...very very helpful and awesome.
while I tried crombi-kk and it's a very awesome rom the lack of sound mods kill it for me,but here's the problem,I use textnow and textfree alot and prior to me unlocking and flashing (which was done around april 25th-ish) I used my tablet extensively and being able to make and recieve calls thru the tablet has been super helpful for me.but ever since I flashed It never allows me to make calls...I checked the app manager in rom toolbox and my "make and recieve phone calls" permission is browned out instead of green,I tried to run"fix permissions" in the app itself and system wide
it still doesnt allow me to call out.
also how do I know if Browser2ram is running,I kno cromi-x has it by default, but Is there a notification like in supersu or something?

please help me:(

If you have CROMi-X, browser2ram is running - part of the rom.

Reg you other question: Probably only sbdags can tell you what he might have taken out compared to stock that may cause this. Post a few more times in General until you are allowed to post in the Development section and post your question in the CROMi-X thread.

Same result with an OEM cable. I guess it's time to crack the case and check continuity on the data pins.

This is the last in a chain of issues (horrible lag during IO, which is my motivation for trying another ROM; broken keyboard retention pins; and now USB connectivity) that has both guaranteed that I'll never buy another Asus product, but also makes me wonder if I'm wasting my time even trying to fix this POS.

Direct approach for build 10.6.1.14.10 on TF700t

I have a TF700t at 4.2.1 and build 10.6.1.14.10. As expected I have the typical lag issues reported. For the record the factory reset worked but as noted for only a couple of weeks (man it was nice to have a working tablet back for that short time). My problem is that information presented here and elsewhere is voluminous but very confusing. I see two approaches: I thought an easy approach would be to buy Lagfix, root the tablet and install it. No, it appears the tools required you downgrade the build then use the tools to root it. A lot of the reply solutions were old and I can't seem to find something that would root my configuration directly without a downgrade.
So to the kind readers of this forum, I would like to ask for an approach to either install Lagfix on my TF700t in its present configuration (no downgrade) or another direct approach to install a replacement ROM without being a Linux nerd to get it installed. What I really would like to have is a clear stepwise list of actions/tools to do either one with as few tools possible and steps. So if someone can point me to a current procedure taking either approach for my configuration, I would really appreciate it.
Just needs to be able to run Clash of Clans (currently backed up on SD card), and surf the internet without crashing on websites. Thanks :)

Rooting will only get you so far.. You can do it on the .10 bootloader either with Kingo Android Root or Towelroot, but only v1 works on this tablet and it's hard to find on the web. PM me if you ned it.

So my advice would be to put a custom rom on this tablet.

dasunsrule posted he would port CM12 (which is L) to the TF700.
I think the Vanir team is also working on it and maybe Techfusion - check their respective threads in Development.
But as of now, there is no Lollipop rom out there for us.
Plenty of KitKat roms to play with in the meantime though ;)

It didn't say anything about this on the first post...
