I have a SERO plan. I tried going to the chat link provided in this thread (international support) but I was told that because I have an employee account, I cannot ordered a SIM over chat. I was given a number to call.

After being hung up on twice, someone told me that I cannot order a SIM card over the phone, I need to go to a store. I called my local Corporate Store. He said that they do not have SIM cards, please call customer support. lol. He first tried to tell me that the phone I ordered was GSM only. I told him that he was misinformed, it is for Sprint, it says it right on Google's product page, and has been confirmed by sprint. He then said that I should cancel my order with Google and instead pre-order with Sprint because Sprint would provide a SIM.

HAHA. Stupid. What are my options now? Geez.

Yep, me too. I got another follow-up email this morning, and after telling me last night they would send me a sim, this one said because I'm on sero they can't order it. Need to call or visit the store..

I'm not sure if they really can't do it, or this is just their way of giving a big FU to sero account holders and people who buy phones from other vendors besides them, since they don't make much money from us.

Anyone know if the Google Play Store N5 is different at all from the Sprint N5 that you can order. Specially, does the Play Store N5 support the new Sprint LTE2 network?

by all accounts I have seen, there is only 1 phone for the US market, and it handles t-mo, att and sprint. sprint stores will be selling the same exact thing, just for more money and they will provide a sim with it.

I found that I had to use the Worldwide chat service. Using the other chat services representatives could not provide me with a SIM. Got one coming in by the 7th!!! WOOT!

Well I tried normal chat, ecare, and was transferred to an employee account person. They ordered me a SIM on the spot. I have an order number I can track. I was ordered a CZ2102LWR, LTEGSM REMOVABLE 3FF USIM. Finally, someone who knew what they were talking about.

So I just got done with Sprint chat and was able to order the sim in less than 15mins. I used the chat button from the sprint.com website after logging into my account and I did say that I had ordered a nexus 5 from the google play store and wanted to order a sim for it. I also said that I had an employee account (SERO) in the description before I entered the chat. The agent knew what i needed and ordered it right away. Below are the contents from the chat. I will try to update once I get the phone and sim and try to activate (hopefully Tuesday).

Sprint: We received your information and will connect you with a Chat Specialist soon.
Sean F.: Thank you for contacting Sprint, my name is Sean F.. I am happy to help you today.
Sean F.: Hi there!
You: Hi
Sean F.: I'll be glad to help with the UICC chip for your Nexus 5.
You: great
Sean F.: Please bear with me a moment while I access the account.
Sean F.: Thanks for your patience. Almost done getting our UICC order submitted for you. Should just take another moment
now.
You: ok thanks
Sean F.: Alrighty, there we go. I have the UICC order successfully submitted for you. There is no cost and your order ID is
XXXXXXXXXXXX. You'll be able to monitor the order status by visiting sprint.com/myorder and entering this order number.
The results may not appear immediately but should show information in the next few days.
You: thanks. Can you tell me if it is possible to get overnight or 2 day shipping?
Sean F.: This will be shipped by standard 3-*5 day shipping but will not incur any shipping cost.
You: i wouldn't mind paying a shipping cost if I could receive the sim sooner
Sean F.: No problem. I'll check to see if we can edit the shipping method for you real quick. Should just take a few more
moments.
You: thank you
Sean F.: Thanks for your patience. It does look like we'll be able to get 2nd Day or Overnight. Which option would you prefer to
use?
You: can you tell me the price for each option?
Sean F.: The 2 Day shipping is $10.00 and Overnight is $12.00.
You: overnight would be great. Also can I be billed to my account?
Sean F.: Ok, will do. Yep, it will be billed to the next invoice.
You: Great. Will the order number be the same with the change in shipping?
Sean F.: Alrighty, I have the shipping updated to Overnight. That's correct, the order number will remain the same.
You: thank you Sean. You've been extremely helpful and made this quick and easy!
Sean F.: Actually, my mistake. It does show a fresh one had to be generated. The new ID is XXXXXXXXXXXXX. I'm sorry about
that.
Sean F.: No problem at all! Is there anything else I can help with today or any questions you had?
You: No that will be all. Thanks so much again!

Did it with a SERO account. Like other successful orders have stated, I'd use the sprint.com chat button rather than the Worldwide or Phone option. Both of them were unable to order for me. Makes no sense, but this last option worked. So, it really depends on who you're chatting with. Good luck, everyone!

Spoke to a worldwide rep today who knew exactly what I needed. In fact he said he was looking to get a nexus 5 himself. As for avoiding Sprint stores, I've just never had a good experience in one plus I work 12 hour night shift, hard to get to a store and still be patient.

Finally talked to a rep who was knowledgable on the issue. Got my order number and it already showed up. I paid for overnight shipping since my phone is shipped. He said it showed a 2-5 day processing time but I know that is pretty standard for Sprint to say that.

Anyway make sure you guys got the right card. From multiple places I've read you want this card.

I'm on the Everything Plus Referral Program and I also tried the WorldWide chat. Rep told me:
I do apologize however due to your account type you would need to speak with our Employee Accounts department via phone at 888-876-8381
So I just called the number and spoke with a rep. Rep placed me on hold several times in order to see if anything was sent to him regarding the UICC SIM cards and came back and told me he found the memo and helped me placed the order for the LTEGSM REMOVABLE 3FF USIM :fingers-crossed:

Hey guys, just wanted to share. While I know it's been mentioned that their really isn't some special SIM for the Nexus 5, I know most of us avoid Sprint stores when we can. A friend of mine works at a Best Buy mobile and said they keep the Sprint SIM cards in stock and for me to just come in and have him take care of it for me. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Thank you for this I wanted to avoid going to the store at all costs (see all of the above reasons) so I did the chat and I hope to have one sent to me.

The store I go to is typically ok, but it's across town. I thought I'd definitely be paying them a visit. This was awesome, thanks.

I was about to post the same thing. I work at Best Buy and can confirm we carry these. Getting mine tomorrow!

it's been confirmed that Nexus 5s bought from the Play Store can be activated on Sprint. what may not be widely known is that you have to visit a Sprint store in order to activate it (usually you can activate it online at Sprint's website). apparently, the phones ordered through the Play Store do not ship with the required Sprint SIM.

i loathe visiting Sprint stores so i checked if i could order a SIM card online. i was able to do it through chat, but you have to go through the Sprint Worldwide chat page here. if you ask on the regular Sprint chat page, they'll just forward you to the Sprint Worldwide page. you just need to provide them your account PIN and mailing address.

the person I chatted with didn't provide a price for the SIM so i'm assuming it's free. standard shipping is free (3-5 days) and overnight shipping is $12.95.

Update: some people have reported that they were unable to order a SIM through the Worldwide chat page. some have reported that b/c they have a SERO account, they were unable to order. i have a SERO account and i was able to place an order without issue. there seems to be no rhyme or reason for this, and success or failure depends on how knowledgeable of a rep you get. i would suggest you keep trying different avenues of contacting Sprint if you can't order the first time. hopefully, this situation improves as more people place orders

Update 2: for those who were able to place an order and received an email confirmation, you can check the status HERE. the order number provided in the email doesn't have dashes. be sure to put a dash btw the 4th and 5th character and another one btw the 5th and 6th character (like the second example), or else the system won't recognize it

The team lead that had been in my chat session with the support rep followed up in an email asking if I was satisfied with the support and resolution I got from the chat session. Obviously I wasn't, so I sent a reply that I was frustrated by being told by sprint and google that the play store model would activate on sprint, and the chat rep was telling me he couldn't help. He emailed back asking for my pin and shipping address, and which shipping option I wanted, and he'd get one out to me. So kudos to them following up and solving the issue.

I'm wondering if they got caught by surprise today, and didn't have a plan quite in place yet for the N5.

So once the sim is in place do I just call sprint and have them disable my S4 on my account and then add the Nexus 5? Or can I do this online?

Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

yep, just log into your account on sprint.com. there's an option to activate a new phone. the procedure will automatically deactivate your current one.

I'm confused, why are people hesitant about going into the sprint store to ask for a sim?

Do you all think we'll be able to activate before the 8th? I wasn't sure if having a sim card was enough or if Sprint is waiting till the 8th to activate them.

Might not be an issue for me because I ordered mine yesterday so I'm not quite site when I'm receive mine.

don't see why not. i'll confirm once i receive mine on the 7th.
