Thanks, it really does seem like a sad and useless feature. Given the size of this phone, I would dearly love it if a swipe down from anywhere on the screen pulled down your notification bar, or better yet it was split like most custom roms have featured. Hopefully the right launcher can give us anything we need considering we will never see custom roms on this thing. (and by that I mean even if someone hacks the bootloader in some way to give us root, we are just not going to get roms that have drivers for the triple cameras, etc)

Bizarre.

I don't appear to have Hisearch anywhere but....

If you look in Settings - System - System Navigation there is an option for "three-key navigation". If you choose that and then click the 'settings' below it, there are four options for navigation key combinations. Either of the bottom two will add the feature you require for pulling down the notification bar using a navigation key. Also, I'm using Nova Launcher (Prime) which allows me to pull down the notification bar from anywhere on the screen by using its Swipe down gesture feature.

Perform at your own risk! I am not responsible for your device!

I was trying to figure out how to disable Hisearch and found the package for it. I have successfully deleted it. Hisearch is no longer present when I swipe down on a blank space.
------

Or if you are on a Mate 20 Pro (EMUI 9) you could just open Settings > Home Screen & Wallpaper > Home screen settings > Turn off 'App suggestions'. Couple of taps, no fuss and it is gone.

No. it appeared again if I swipe down really hard. But it isn't quite as annoying and doesn't appear most times.

I think you should try and just copy and paste it from here. I had the same issue before :)

Any experience regarding firmware updates? How do such updates work in general regarding patches? I fear that in case of binary patches, the complete update may fail in case the huawei.search package is no longer present. Or would it simply re-install a new huawei.search package (which would be fine, given that we can easily remove it through the same method again).

It will reinstall a new huawei search file. No problem whatsoever with it. You'll need to remove it again on the latest patch

I removed hisearch a while ago. (month or two)

Today I wanted to change the wallpaper but I didn't find any.

Only the gallery option and the 2 live wallpapers.

There is none of the gorgeous built-in static wallpapers!

I don't know if this due to this or some other thing.

Please check your device and tell me if you have the wallpapers or not.

Note:
They are still available when I swipe left or right in the lock screen.

I also updated the phone with this update.

The update was also a while ago. (more than two weeks)
