In CWM 5.0.2.3 recovery, Home=select, Back=back, Power=toggle main menu/logo

Factory data reset.

Can I still do a factory data reset from settings-->Security?
I've been installing, uninstalling apps, ROMS, ect. I just want to erase all data and start from schratch.
Should I reset by flashing the stock ROM first, and root back again?
Could it be just as simple as my first question again?
Would you recomend doing a restore using my first backup. I would like to erase all my internal data, and reinstall all apps again.
What should be the best procedure to wipe data and stay rooted?
I hope I've been clear enough.

Thanks in advance

Finally rooted. Couldn't get it to work on my Win 7 x64 machine. It kept on getting stuck in Odin at SetupConnection. Worked on my Win XP machine just fine.

Now we are going to flash the Kernel
1. Power off device.
2. Hold down both vol down+vol up and plug in usb cable
3. Hit volume up and accept warning
4. Open odin
5. Choose the kernel you just downloaded and load into PDA.
6. Click start and let it run completely and boot up.
7. Completely power down your phone.
8. Hold vol up and vol down button and then hold down power button as well until you see the boot screen then release all three buttons. It will take a few, but you will boot into Clockwork Mod, you will know your in CWM because there will be a black background with blue text.
(To navigate CWM Vol Up moves cursor up and Vol Down moves cursor down. Home button selects and back button goes to previous menu.)
9. Scroll down and select "install zip from sdcard" then select "choose zip from sdcard". Now go and select "su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip" then select "Yes - su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip". Now select back until your at the main menu select "reboot system now".

I got through step 8 with no problems, but when I try to choose the zipfile from my sdcard I get the following error:

E:Can't mount /sdcard/

I've googled for hours trying to find a solution to this problem with this specific phone and have had no luck.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

FOLLOW-UP:
It turns out that the problem was due to having device encryption enabled for ActiveSync. That's why I couldn't mount anything at all from CWM.

I've tried this method to root a number of times. However, afterwords, each time, WIFI breaks.

Anytime I try to turn on WIFI, it does a Wi-Fi network scan then turns off Wi-Fi without finding anything.

My only resolution to get WIFI to work again is to revert back to stock using I777UCKJ1_designgears_Oneclick.exe

Any ideas on troubleshooting this? Thanks

Make sure you put the zip file on the internal sd card...not the external.I had the same problem

Yeah, I thought it might be trying to mount the external SD card so I removed it to be certain. The file is located at:

/sdcard/su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip

Other ideas?

Can't get into download mode

So, holding volume up + volume down and plugging in the usb doesn't bring me into download mode, it just starts charging the phone like it normally would when plugging in the USB...
