I'm want to flash UnNamed tonight, but am unsure which kernel to install. Which do you recomend creepy? I read that UnNamed comes with Entropys kernel, so what happens if I flash entropys kernel to get CWM, and then flash UnNamed when it already contains a kernel?

Also, can I flash Entropys kernel with CWM even if I already tried to flash CWM through ROM Manager?

You can start with Entropy512's kernel, but you can't flash it from stock 3e recovery. You would have to extract the zImage and flash from heimdall command line, adb or Android Terminal Emulator. Once you have ClockworkMod Recovery, you can flash UnNamed over it. I think latest version of Unnamed also has the latest version of Entropy's daily driver, so at that point, you are good. If you are concerned about the yellow triangle and the flash counter, see my guide.

Re: Rom Manager, I think you will be ok, but of course I've never tried it, so can't say from experience.

Is adb this (http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html)? I'm at step 3a of your guide, and I'm confused as to how to change the directory to the tools directory...also when you say enter the following into command prompt, do would you for example enter "adb push zImage /sdcard/zImage" then push enter, then enter the next line? Ive never really used command prompt.
Yes, that's the same link as in my guide. Once installed you need to know what the exact path is to the sub-directory where adb.exe is installed.

Using the command prompt:

What OS are you on? On windows 7 for instance, when you open the command prompt, you will get C:\Users\Your User Name>

Type "cd\" and hit enter. You will get c:\> (cd means change directory)

Type cd android-sdk-windows\platform-tools and enter. You will get C:\android-sdk-tools\platform-tools>

Of course, the actual path directory and sub-directory will have to match what you have installed on your computer. Now you are ready to enter adb commands.

Then follow what you said and you will be good.

For some reason it wont let me install android sdk to the c drive only to like c:\programfiles how do I cd in DOS to the sdk if it's installed under program files?
First write down the full path to the directory where adb.exe is located.

Then follow what I wrote above, but use the path you just wrote down.

The path will be something like C:\program files\.....\..... (whatever your actual path is)

I know I sound like an idiot and you're probably like wow...but I apologize, you don't even know how helpful you are being to me. I'm very nervous atm but feel better knowing you're there haha...I'm about to install entropys kernel and then gonna try to flash unnamed, are all my apps and settings going to get erased? I made backups of some apps and some of the stuff in that newbie guide to tibu...

Yes they will. When you before you flash UnNamed, you need to do a wipe data/factory reset. This will remove all your personal settings and applications. Be sure you have everything you must not lose backed up first. Relax, follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

I'm going to bed now.

Ok success, I believe I flashed the kernel because now CWM works and I just created my first backup...I'm downloading unnamed v1.3.1 full right now (280mb) and will be flashing when finished.

What should I know before flashing? If something goes wrong, now that I created a backup I will be okay right? Will I have to redo my settings and redownload my apps?

Ok so I am now running UnNamed so far so good no problems. I might add voice command because I actually used it...but I have noticed so far today my battery is draining faster then my stock rooted rom I came from which in effect is the complete opposite result I was trying to achieve from a custom ROM

This is my first time rooting my phone, the closet thing to doing this that I have done is jailbroken an iPod touch using a program that I only needed to click a single button.. so I really need some advice/help, also one of the biggest questions I have is, will rooting my phone like reset it? Or will I still have my apparently, contacts, etc. ?

After following this instruction, my phone shows GT-I9100 at boot screen.

I assume it is because same bootloader is used for GT-I9100 here. Anyway to change this boot screen?
Or did I just use wrong version of Odin? (Odin I get said it is for i9100, but could not find one that is specifically for i777)

This happens when you flash a custom kernel with Odin3 or Heimdall. You have also incremented the flash counter. It's not a very serious problem thouigh, because you can clear the boot screen back to at&t one, remove the yellow triangle, and reset the flash counter with a jig.

If interested, read the guides liniked in my signature for more information.

Hello guys, following the guide, I rooted and installed CWM successfully, however when I try to make a selection in CWM, all it does is show the logo with the hat until I hit the power button again, making it practically useless.

I've redone the process laid out in the OP more than twice, yet the same result. The only thing that I think could be the problem is I have only 30% battery. Could this cause the stalling?

I didn't read all 50 pages, so sorry if this has been addressed already :)

Thanks in advance

edit (more detail of my problem): Whenever I enter the main CWM menu, I can never leave it without removing the battery. Whenever I make a selection, including reboot, it just shows the logo in the center of the screen (as if it's loading). When I hit the power button, the main menu returns.

you didnt need to read all 50 pages, just the FIRST POST
(To navigate CWM Vol Up moves cursor up and Vol Down moves cursor down. Home button selects and back button goes to previous menu.)
