Look man, we ALL started from scratch at one point, and someone helped us, so I have no problem helping you or others :) And THANKS for the donation! I pass it along to the devs whose work I use, so it DOES get put to good use.

d/l safestrap APK to sdcard

once rooted, go to SS apk and click it, install it. Once installed, OPEN SS and click INSTALL recovery, and you're ready to flash roms in SS!
OK….so I downloaded the ss apk to my sdcard and put it back in my phone…..now where/how do I find it?

UPDATE!!!!! OK OK OK……I did it…….whoop whoop whoop!!!! Now what do I do? Where can I find all the apps to customize my rooted Note 3!?!?

Some of the popular roms link are in my sig. I prefer Beans build 5, but lots of people are happy with Hyperdrive and Clean Rom. Glad it all worked out for you! NEVER hesitate to ask any questions in the future. You know where to find me!

I have a folder on my ext sdcard named ROOT and I keep all my roms, mods and anything I want to flash in there so I know where to find it.

OK…..thanks, I really appreciate it. Last question for tonight……how or where do I go to actually look at the files inside my Note 3…..not my downloaded files but the actual files that make up my phone?

Any file explorer. I think "es file explorer" comes with beans build 5. The "ROM Toolbox" app has a built in file explorer as well.

On the file tree,
Extsdcard= external sdcard
Sdcard= internal storage

Try going to MANAGE APPS and clear play store cache and data.

Here's a thread on that issue. Most folks just remove their google acct, reboot and re-add it...

Since you ODIN all the time, any suggestions to improve this write up or anything I missed?
nice guide. the only thing that i see is that there are two mj3 tar;s out there. one for the dev and the other for retail. your guide doesn't say which one it is. just a thought, could throw some off. still, great info.

Ok so this has nothing to do with what I quoted you for, just wanted to get your attention. I dropped my Note 3 today and the screen did not shatter or crack but is broken. I have 0% visibility. Now the screen itself as far as touching it still works, answer incoming calls etc. I am pretty sure, i'd say 75% sure that I can get it into "odin" mode. That being said, if I do this and flash the MJE tar file in odin that way when I send them this phone it will just be a stock phone instead of a rooted phone. If I do not get into "odin" mode and still go forward with flashing the MJE tar in odin will this mess it up even worse and brick it? Thanks in advance!

I'd have to say if you can push the MJE ota to the phone even with the display borked, it SHOULD work to get you back to OEM stock. the ONLY problem I see with that is your phone will look as it did the moment you plugged it in for the first time: no desktop, no phonebook, no input whatsoever from you the customer.

Depending how long you've had the phone, THAT in of itself might cause someone in the warranty dept to "dig deeper'. Then again, maybe not, and what have you got to loose anyway right?

It's possible you could theoretically boot into factory reset: vol up, home, power button (I think) and vol down THREE times for factory reset... There are a LOT of 'IFs" since you can not see the display at all...

Having never down this before without seeing what I am doing, I can't see why it wouldn't work for you. I guess the way you'd know is when booting after the ota, you'll hear the Samsung and Verizon sound files...

Good luck and let me know how it went so I'll have the info to pass on in the future!

I am rooted on JellyBeanz Build 5. Forgot to say that. So what I am shooting for is to remove battery, Vol down, Home, and Power button all at the same time and then Vol up to enter into "download mode" "odin mode" Whatever it's called and then simply plug it into the computer, open Odin 3.09, load the MJE tar file into the AP slot and press start. This would put me back to Stock un-rooted. Yes I would be at the beginning of the "Phone Setup" process but I would not be rooted therefore not be in violation of the warranty right?

My main concern is after pushing Vol down, home and power buttons all at the same time and then click the Vol up button, say it doesn't enter that "Odin mode" but I think it has and still go forward with the rest, is this going to brick it? Or will it simply not work and I will be able to try again?

If you hit VOL UP too soon or "miss" getting to the ODIN screen from the WARNING screen, you're desktop ODIN should never load the COM box... That would be your signal to close desktop Odin, VOL UP, start desktop Odin again and wait for COM box to populate and hit start.

Yes your phone will be back to stock, but I can't imagine SOMEONE won't be curious why your phone has never been "Set up" depending on how long you had it. And again, they may not even try to pow it up either :)

I have the note 3 I was on build mj7 i used odin to update to mje then rerooted and installed safestrap. To make a long story even longer im doing a waranty exchange and my new phone will be here on the 24th dec. What do i need to do in order to make it where this phone is stock. Base mje build JSS15J.N900VVRUBMJE. Do i need to odin mje tar again so it removes the su app and ss?

Sent from my SM-N900V using xda app-developers app

Factory reset (that'll restore it to out of the box new) then check baseband version to ensure MJE, send it back...

I already done the factory reset but when it booted up safestrap came up it said disabled i then hit continue and set up the phone and went through my apps and super user was there. I will try to factory reset again and see what it does. This time i will disable supersu maybe thats what i done wrong. Here goes.

I disabled SuperSU and done the factory reset not 1 time but this made the 2nd time and when phone booted up it showed the custom lock logo on the bootup screen then SafeStrap came up in red "Meaning Disabled". SuperUser is still on my apps but when i click on it it says SuperSU binary needs to be updated i clicked cancel.
