If you hit VOL UP too soon or "miss" getting to the ODIN screen from the WARNING screen, you're desktop ODIN should never load the COM box... That would be your signal to close desktop Odin, VOL UP, start desktop Odin again and wait for COM box to populate and hit start.

Yes your phone will be back to stock, but I can't imagine SOMEONE won't be curious why your phone has never been "Set up" depending on how long you had it. And again, they may not even try to pow it up either :)

Ok awesome! That's exactly what I needed to know =]

I look at it like this, would it be better for them to fix the phone, get the screen working and then see me on Jellybeanz Build 5 or for them to see the start up screen and the phone not be rooted?

Download odin 3.09 use AP button. I've not used older odin versions, and Beans mje file in my sig is what I've used in the past...

For those who haven't used ODIN, the process can seem a bit daunting. Follow these steps to make flashing files via ODIN painless...

! ! ! I am in NO WAY responsible for what you do with your device. YOU assume ALL responsibility for ALL actions performed on your device ! ! !

STEP ONE:

On PC, go to CONTROL PANEL > Install/Uninstall Programs > uninstall ALL Samsung drivers

Download & Install The Following To Your PC

Samsung USB drivers for Odin (click “see all downloads”)

ODIN 3.09 (latest version)
click middle “download” button - credit to DutchDogg54 for file

MJE Tar File
credit to Beanstown106 for file (confirm Developer Edition or Retail device)

STEP TWO:

Flash File In ODIN

- Power down your device (remove sdcard - not required but recommended)

- Simultaneously press and hold VOL DOWN + HOME BUTTON + POWER BUTTON

- At *Warning* screen, press VOL UP

- Start ODIN on PC

- Connect your Phone to its USB cable and plug cable into PC

- WAIT for ODIN to populate the COM box (pic 1)

- Click "AP" button (PDA if older Odin) (pic 2)

- Browse PC and insert file to be flashed (MJE tar)

- WAIT for "START" button (pic3) to be enabled (may take a minute)

- Click START button to begin file install

- Disconnect USB when download is finished (device might auto reboot)

Profit, BACON & Joy you are now on MJE and your device is STOCK.

PERFORM A FACTORY RESET WIPING ENTIRE PHONE

This should return your device to "out-of-the-box" newness (remove ext SDcard)

- Turn off device

- Simultaneously hold VOL UP, HOME, POWER

- Release POWER when you see the Note 3 logo

- Release VOL UP & HOME when you see the System Recovery screen

- VOL UP after warning

- Using VOL DOWN choose WIPE DATA / FACTORY RESET

- Select using POWER button

- Using VOL DOWN choose "Delete ALL User Data"

- Select with POWER button

- Highlight REBOOT SYSTEM

- Select REBOOT SYSTEM NOW using POWER button

-Your device is now OEM Stock and ready to ship for warranty purposes, OR you can start over with a totally OEM stock device (see root link in my sig)

when i put my vzw note 3 in download mode at the top it says current binary samsung official stystem status custom. I was already on mje when this happened. Hopefully i can get this computer to download the mje tar file because i havent had much luck with getting it to download before. I checked my download progress and its gonna take it like 4hrs to download a 1.3gb file. I have a 12meg router. I will wait hopefully it will be done before i have to leave for work which is in about 1hr 30min.

Really do thank you for sticking around while i was trying to figure all of this out. I get really impatient somtimes and try rushing through the whole process instead of taking a breath and calming down and take one step at a time. Kinda hard to stay concentrated though my 6yr old keeps me busy when im off work he doesnt get to see me that much. Just really happy that i finally fixed my phone. Thanks to you for the work you put into guiding me on what to do and thank you beanstown106 for all you do

I saw it. My computer had a virus on it so in order to fix my phone i had to call someone to come out and clean up my computer plus it was way outdated it had over 200 updates that needed to be installed anyway after i got my pc fixed everything else was starting to fall in place i was then able to download the required files and unzip the MJEtar.
Thanks again for your advice id say your probably getting tired of me so im out.
MERRY CHRISTMAS be safe this holiday season.

When you've tried odin in the past, did you follow the same process as in the OP?
