I'm still running MI9 and inadvententy deleted some bloatware system apps that I don't have backups for. Would I be able to successfully Odin the MI9 tar file (or even the MJE tar) if I'm missing some system apps on my current MI9? I would think it wouldn't matter, but I figured I'd check before pulling the trigger. Any insight appreciated.

Flashing ANY tar in Odin will wipe your device. Since you look like you're going to need to flash a tar file to restore your system files, might as well flash the MJE (as newer roms are built on MJE base and will not function properly on a MI9/Mj7 device)

If for some reason you want to stay on MI9, just flash the MI9 tar and you'll be back at square one. Flashing any MI9,MJ7, MJE tar files will revert your device back to it's stock, OEM configuration, so be sure to copy everything you want to keep to you EXT sdcard.

Awesome. That's the answer I was hoping for. I'll flash the MJE tar, then. Thanks again!

Odin FAIL

Hi There!

Please anyone can help me?
I'm From Hungary at T-mobile but i bought an unlocked device (later realized it was French XEF) and now I'm trying to flash a stock hunagrian t-mobile firmware from sammobile. I downloaded the 1,4GB file unziped into .tar and with ODIN3 v3.09 i tried to flash to my phone. Before it I factory reseted. After starting the process ODIN stops with fail.
And now it can't start. :/
Please help me.

Thanks Forward!!

Did you try using Kies as warning screen suggests? Odin failing could mean a few of things: bad partitions if you didn't use PIT file, bad tar, etc.

I would tries Kies. It doesnt help that I'm not familiar with T mobile device and have no idea what French XEF means...

Good luck

By unlocked you are referring to the Developer Edition? I think your issue may be that you downloaded a zip, and NOT an actual tar file. Unless you can create a tar from a zip (above my knowledge base) I know the ROMS come as zip files, and the Tars are .tar and contain all firmware, kernel and stock rom, where as a zip file ONLY contains the rom. Unless I am mistaken.

Were you able to get this issue resolved? If so, please share what you did or what link you followed so it can be a source for future users. Thanks!
I used a non-branded firmware from sammobile 4.4.2 (Hungary) flashed with odin. (- > zip -> unzip -> deleted the md5 word from the name of the file) falsh the .tar
In odin check only auto reboot and reset t time. put the .tar into the AP section click start.

Hope it helps.

I just want to know that if it possible to wipe out 4.3 jelly bean provided by Verzion and load original 4.3/4.4 unbranded firmware. if then the how.

I tried using with odin but it showed fail message.

Sorry to tell you this, but the Verizon SM-N900V has a locked bootloader. No one has been able to figure out how to unlock it. So you are limited to using Hashcode's safestrap (found in the Development section), and the ROMs you find on this forum. Only stock TouchWiz kernel, too.

Thank you Cam, will wait for some magic to happen.

Safestrap is not a bad alternative while we wait for a possible unlock bootloader. The ability to flash 5 roms by a simple highlight and reboot is fantastic for the crack flasher and those who enjoy multiples roms but don't enjoy the wait time to restore a nand.

the tar.file is the stock rom and everything right? I need to go back to stock to return for malfunctioning. Just making sure I do it right? will they look at the trip or knox counter( whatever it is called) to know I was rooted?

Even if they looked flashing odin tar doesnt trip knox. I've flashed stock MJE tar in Odin several times, Knox still 0x0, and it brings you back to carrier oem stock. No worries!
