Forgive me if I am not as good about this as you are, but I did open the file in 7 zip, and it changed it from a MD5 file to a 7zip file, and I tried it again and Odin still does not see it , I can see it in a file on my desk top , but Odin wont recongnize the file, it appears as empty ??? other files can be seen but not the Firmware file and Like I said I opened it up with 7 zip.
It's been a while since I unzipped a 7z file. I believe you flash the md5 file after unzipping.

Hi to everyone…..I'm a long time iPhone user converted to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (Verizon) and loving it. I've been trying to read as much as I can before asking questions but I'm just not sure about some things and I want to be sure before I proceed. I've tried at several different links to download the root file needed for my phone but can't find it….can someone point me in the right direction. I also know I need Odin3…..is there a particular version I need for my specific phone. Any help is greatly appreciated!!
You can use towle root to root the verizon note 3 on 4.4.2

PERFORM A FACTORY RESET WIPING ENTIRE PHONE[/B]

This should return your device to "out-of-the-box" newness (remove ext SDcard)

- Turn off device

- Simultaneously hold VOL UP, HOME, POWER

- Release POWER when you see the Note 3 logo

- Release VOL UP & HOME when you see the System Recovery screen

- VOL UP after warning

- Using VOL DOWN choose WIPE DATA / FACTORY RESET

- Select using POWER button

- Using VOL DOWN choose "Delete ALL User Data"

- Select with POWER button

- Highlight REBOOT SYSTEM

- Select REBOOT SYSTEM NOW using POWER button

-Your device is now OEM Stock and ready to ship for warranty purposes, OR you can start over with a totally OEM stock device (see root link in my sig)

Click HERE to Root, install Safestrap, update Chainfire's SuperSU, flash custom Roms, and learn about Rom Slots!

So let me ask you this..... Could I perform the above procedure, use towelroot, SU, BusyBox, the SS, and install ROMs? Even though I took the OTA NC4, would the procedure take me back to before the OTA and allow me to then root and upswing to 4.4.3?

Click the NC4 link in my sig, follow the instructions near the bottom of OP. They have been successful for several users.

Trying Desperately to return to stock

Hello,

I need to return my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to stock. I downloaded the needed tar file and I have odin also. So I have everything I need to return to stock. My phone is connected via usb cable to my daughters laptop pc and I have odin on the screen. The directions tell me to click on PDA and then select the MD5 file. I do as directed and it shows NOTHING in the directory! The darnn file is in there but for some unknown reason odin does not see it. So now what do I do? I figured the file might have a problem so I re-downloaded it again but got the same result.

I have used odin in the past with no problem but this time it's just won't cooperate. If I can't get this thing working I'll be forced to spend $700 for a replacement phone, which I really don't want to do.

I hope someone can help me here. I'm desperate.

Thanks

You need to use 7zip to extract the file from the zip you downloaded, then within Odin click on the PDA or AP button depending upon the version of Odin you are using, browse to the folder where you extracted the file to and Odin will then see it.

Can I push the NC2 Kernel with Heimdall....(Ubuntu 12) and then install the ROM in a different slot than the stock one?

I want to keep my stock location set in case something bricks....if not, that will be what it is but I wanted to try another slots.

I posted a thread on this but I still can't get my phone to connect to Odin or Heimdall. I can't really go into the operating system to check to make sure I have debugging usb checked but I thought I did. Here is the original post. I'm kind of at a loss.

Hi, all. I am new to rooting/installing custom roms and I am stuck. I am installing Jasmin 2.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2760380) and have been following the directions but I am unable to get my laptop (a Macbook Air, I know, I know) to detect my phone in "Download Mode". Since I'm using a Mac, I tried using Heimdall and it still won't detect it. I'm kind of at a loss here. For reference, here are the steps from the thread. I am stuck going from Step 8 to 9. I don't know what to do because I've already installed Jasmin and if I try to just turn on the phone to get into the OS, it just sits at a black screen for a long time after the safestrap splash screen that says "Safestrap Disabled".

1. Root your device using TowelRoot & install SuperSu app
2. Install BusyBox Installer from Play Store
3. Open BusyBox Installer, grant root access & install BusyBox
4. Install the latest Safestrap for your firmware (JB/KK)
5. Boot into Safestrap & select Stock/JasmineROM Slot
6. Wipe data/system/cache/dalvik for clean flash
7. Flash the latest JasmineROM release
8. Reboot to Download Mode from Safestrap
9. If you're coming from JB, flash Firmware upgrading from JB via Odin
10. If you're coming from KK, flash Unified KK Firmware for RE via Odin
11. Reboot to system (be patient, the first boot may take a long time!)
12. If you're coming from JB, open Safestrap, uninstall & reinstall recovery

Any help would be great, thanks! Sorry if I need to give more information, as I am new to this.

Are you running a NC2 (or earlier) OS or the NC4 (official OTA)?

If you upgraded to KK by means OTHER than OTA, you can revert back to MJE via Odin (once you get back into Download)

If you're on NC4 from OTA, try the steps in the link on my sig (NC4) (after you get back into Download)

I'm not a MAC user (and don't know any :) ) but the only "trick" I know for getting into download is to pull battery, hold vol down, home, power buttons, and then pop battery back in.

If that doesn't work, I'm at a loss. Not sure if the same things for Windows works for Mac like change your USB port, disable antivirus, delete all Samsung drivers from Mac then reinstall them...

Good luck!

If you're running SD 3.75 you can use multiple Rom Slots, if you're on 3.72 I wouldn't advise using slots

Stuck on Verizon Logo Screen....

I pushed the kernel to the note via Odin and Odin reported success but stuck on the Verizon boot screen. Now.....I did these steps....

Downloaded and installed the Samsung USB drivers
Downloaded and installed Odin v3.09
Downloaded the v2 Kernel
Rebooted the computer....

Odin populates the com
AP the .md5 kernel
Resets, Phone Reboots, Odin says success
Then.....Verizon Boot Screen

So, I didn't do the Factory Reset in the beginning nor did I install the Baja Rom. My thinking was that I could push the kernel to the stock OS without a Factory Reset.

Did something else go wrong here? I know....follow the directions sure, but, I didn't see the reason for the Factory Reset and the ROM install before the Kernel install.....

Could you shed some light on this.....as of right now, I am downloading the NC4 Firmware incase I need Odin to reflash that too......

Thanks
Rich

Pow off
Hold vol down, home, power
Once in Download, cancel.

If this doesn't work, start over at beginning of NC4 update and follow each step :D

Thanks for the help, I was running the official KitKat from the OTA update. The issue wasn't getting into download, it was that the computer wasn't recognizing the phone while it was in download. What I ended up doing was making a VM of Windows and trying Odin and it worked on the first try. I hate Macs a lot of the time. Thanks for the help, though!
