Your post dont even make sense. The Verizon s8 at the time came sim unlocked. All you had to do was swap the csc. But worked unlocked out of the box. Why would a sprint device be the best setup. All the us s8s are identical. Sounds like you come from LG which is true on devices and versatility. Not Samsung.
It all makes sense :). As for the US variants they were never all sim unlocked. Only one that would work on all of the carriers out of the box except for sprint would have been the Verizon model. Anything up to this latest change (don't know when) is unlocked and able to be used on all but sprint. Sprint? It is because that band is not present on other handsets afaik. I went through this ordeal with an s8 and other Galaxy S series for testing purposes.

LG? Samsung? what are you talking about? RE: Last comments you made..

These devices are multi carrier when you install a new some it should automatically setup for any new carrier with carrier bloat and enable said bands. The same model is used for all the carriers in the USA. any bands not enabled can be by changing the firmware which all are compatible with each. I was stating basically lg makes carrier based phones for carriers needs. But now samsung does not tailor to the carrier each model has the same exact capable radios

G955P vs G955U (US Unlocked) U1? is usually the firmware flashed to these non U variants and even U variants because if i remember right you can just swap sims and reboot having the new CSC loaded nothing done to your files with the carriers logo loaded up as well. Check link below under radios and expand. Compare other G955* as well. *NOTE* only variant i have had was a tracfone S8 that happened to allow sprint and all without afaik no unl0cking of sprint. Might be something there worth looking into.. Odd as i didnt think tracfone / straight talk had any sprint.. could be wrong though.

Now as for Samsung they sure do tailor to carriers else that would be a huge cut in their US customer client bases through the top is it 5? carriers now. The U firmware and U1 is made not for carriers afaik. It is what most go for when ordering from factory, getting online etc.. No lock down..

Now LG you are right a bit. It is hard to get anything to work on another carriers but no entirely possible.

I have a s8+ here which is soon to be overhauled, rebuilt and so I will be going through this once again for the 4th time or so on these Galaxies. My method works 100% thanks to guides here on XDA and a little of my own tricks.

Nice chat!
