DON'T PANIC!!!
Won't swear this works for everybody and every situation...but it's worked every time for me. You need clockworkmod installed, and your current system file on SD.
Interrupt the loop by pressing power and volume up at the same time.
As it's booting, quickly press the volume down.
Release and then press down until you see the recovery option.
Press up to choose recovery.
Install system.
It resets some things, of course, but all my apps have been left intact.
