Alright so I've gotten this to work on every build but it has to ask for msl in ##3424# to work. If someone could test something for me and if you note 3 doesn't ask for pass on ##3424# then try this process but use ##serial# see if it ask for msl

i can confirm that neither ##3434# (command prompt does not even pop up on that one) nor ##serial# works although command prompt pops for this one it does not ask or request MSL.. robhuffster your soo close to cracking this issue!

Doesn't ask there either. Your phone is strange to be msl locked on everything.
robhuffster i understand you have a different build than most of us..i wish there was a way to get your build on our phones if downgrading was possible so we could just use your build and use your working method.

its not just my phone there is plenty of people that this has worked for, that does ask them for there msl on theose menus. my phone is on

ap mi5
cp mi3
csc mi5

i used the de la vega method to not update my bootloader and updated everything else to mi5

without being asked for the msl in those menus then right now there isnt a working method.

I need someone who is on either mj4 or mi5 to send me a copy of therebuild.prop and the data/system/package.xml. make sure to erase your imei from your build prop AFTER you make a copy and before you send it to me. I was unable to pull a phone copy out of this phone because they have the apps and permissions bundled together in groups with other apps, never seen anything like this before, but you can take this apk and try it https://www.dropbox.com/s/u2cgmxifx984pxu/SecPhone.apk

what i dont understand is if ##3424# works and i believe it works because of your youtube video why wouldnt ##debug# (##33284#)work because there the MSL Prompt does pop up but when using your method it fails just as if we used ##data# (##3282#) it fails. robhuffster can you confirm that ##debug# works using your method

I will try again but I have tried every dial code I could find and the only one that works was ##diag# and it only works using 123456. It won't even work using 000000 which is weird I don't understand but I'm trying things right now and hopefully they work

Ah ha...though it may not be practical, if we also updated via this method then we should all be good.

Now...I have to find the links/threads and the time to do this...agh...:silly:...so swamped with work

OR...couldn't we just update the baseband/modem? Hmmm

So then its best to assume your not on MJ4 then? remember you cant downgrade if you are.

Seems like upgrading and downgrading modems won't work...heard it will fail.

But yeah, didn't know you can do the AP, CP and CSC that way.

Could you please link us to the files and a mini tutorial? (I'm running into dead ends...plenty of info on 900A and 900T)
I can't see another way besides doing it this way at this point for the MI3 crowd.

im telling you it doesnt matter that i am on jellybomb domination, i did this from stock mi3 as well, and rooted on mi5 (except for my baseband of course) and do NOT update your baseband. It will lock your bootloader and thats bad https://www.dropbox.com/s/15khobjnxp2sdjy/2013-11-20 20.13.14.jpg

This is just frustrating to us folks who are on mj4 and soooo left out of the loop right now.....

So to be sure there is no way to downgrade to your baseband so we can get the msl prompt on ##3424# i see in one of the photos that you removed your sim card ? do you think if i removed mine it would ask for the MSL at prompt ##3424# ...i know. i'm just trying to look for any solution to this
