Question How to GSI on s23 ultra

Battery life is better and phone runs noticeably cooler. Uses much less RAM also

and now I am 100% convinced. it's time for some modding on a 1k device

I'll look into making an overlay, doesn't seem that hard, I'll let you know how it goes

hey mate forgot to ask one (actually, two) last thing-what steps did you follow to flash it? and was the patched vbmeta necessary?

I was coming from Beyond ROM. I flashed the patched vbmeta through Odin before installing Beyond ROM (see Beyond installation instructions). However, when flashing GSI i just reboot to TWRP then format data (wipes internal storage) then reboot to fastboot (fastboot inside TWRP) then Fastboot erase system . Then Fastboot Flash system system.img then reboot. That was all.

thanks! managed to install it and it would be almost perfect if it werent for the.. random graphics lag
do you have this bug as well? btw, I flashed the bgN package. it's still usable as a daily driver, I really didn't expect it to work this well, but it's a bit annoying not gonna lie. and the fp scanner lock option is completely absent, cant even try enrolling it :')

I'll report it to github alongside the fp scanner later on, might get both issues fixed

There's no bgN in "light" version. You might have flashed the TD based one? The correct one is "gN".

Light is much smoother than TD. After Flashing it go to Display and force FPS to 1440p@120hz. I haven't had any lags after forcing 120hz tbh.

but true, changing the refresh rate fixed the lag

There are animation lags when you're opening apps from the drawer for example. It's VERY harsh. That isn't related to the refresh rate since it's forced to 120hz anyway. It could be something with the input boost, but not yet sure since I didn't have time to mess with it yet.

You can set animation duration to 0.5X in developer settings or turn them off completely. It will be a lot faster.

I thought that the S23 Ultra just doesn't support A/B partitioning, and even support Project Treble at all???
in any case, can anyone in here please give me info about if the S23 Ultra does have support for Treble, and by extension, A/B partitioning (even in stock OneUI ROM)?

I'm not talking about the speed of the animation, but the jitters. It's very jittery.

Jitters= stuttering

They're only appearing when opening/closing apps.
Scrolling and everything else is fine.

Btw, I do own a Pixel 7 Pro.
I could even record and show you what I mean.

Anyways, it's manageable, was just curious if someone else has it.

I have them as well, even ramping up the refresh rate hasn't fixed it completely. the rest is working so nicely though that I'm still quite happy with it. I'll create an issue on trebledroid/treble_experimentations but only in maybe a week or two (alongside another one for the fp scanner), so if you can create it faster feel free to do it yourself.

thanks for letting me know, for now I'm quite happy with light and the refresh rate set to 90hz, I have stutters only when scrolling (really) fast. I'll still make in issue though, because this is just us trying to sweep this bug under the rug as much as we can

I tried it out and unfortunately it resulted into lineage getting stuck at the bootanimation.had the funny idea to do it while being outside, thinking "eh what's the worst that can happen with a magisk module" now I'll be able to fully appreciate the animation beauty thanks to samsung blocking access to recovery if it's not connected to a PC till I'm home

edit: thankfully, magisk automatically disabled the module after a few reboots. I tried to access it from adb to get logs with a friend's laptop, but it couldn't even reach that stage, adb couldn't find the device. Sorry about that, I'm sure with this little information there isn't much you can do.
