So, it's JUST A BIG PDF?
You know, I could truly attack that statement, but I won't. After spending countless hours preparing my "how to," well, I won't say it.
Peter
Okay, rant wasn't quite over ... but I think it is now.
Don't sass developers. Especially great ones that contribute as much as design gears.
I can appreciate that you did something to help but,
Looks like your being over sensitive, I don't see his comment as offensive.
(and the adb thing is something that would be helpful for a good amount of people)

I'll ignore your comment.
As promised, I've completely revamped the original instructions. It now includes a full table of contents with clickable links to help in navigation, and both Quick and Manual entries on all modifications.
This should also help those who aren't inclined to spend a few extra seconds of their precious time to provide a better explanation of things.
Peter
Addendum: I never did get an explanation for his comment about adb, and how I can improve my instructions.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing he meant actually installing the SDK which includes 'adb'.
This would also include setting up environment variables for Windows such that you can access 'adb' from any folder.
Here is a link to the SDK: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
(This is probably overkill for most, but I would recommend having this for having the "actual" 'adb' straight from the source)
i feel like i'm troubling you peter..
but just curious if anyone can answer..
what if i wanted to go back to the rogers version
I usually don't frequent the general thread alot but today I was bored at work and decided to start reading all the threads when I came across this. First, thank you for the time and effort in putting this together. I'm sure it will/can help alot of new (and even experienced) users. Although I'm no expert when it comes to linux (windows man myself), I've been doing this long enough to be pretty comfortable when it comes to rooting/unlocking these darn android phones. Because of this, I've thought about creating a how-to document as well but never did. Mainly, because it's something that will never be 'done'. There's always newer/better ways coming out to do things and stuff that worked yesterday might not work today because of some firmware update, etc. I'm saying this cause I hope you know what you've gotten yourself into
Again though, thanks for this and I'm sure more people will be helped by it than you get thanks from. Kinda the ungrateful world we live in. For comments like this is just some big pdf.. just ignore and move on. Not worth the time to even respond to.
edit: never mind, I see this is just a big pdf, not all the scripts too...
belongs in general tho
again, you should also tell people how to setup adb properly...
sure, good tutorial, wrong section, and not setting up adb properly is just bad practice.
Personally, I'd be reluctant to criticize anyone who put so much work into a tutorial. Wow, this thing is detailed....edit: never mind, I see this is just a big pdf, not all the scripts too...
