Here is the method who want to upgrade the moto x to 5.1 without updating the bootloader
Here is the twrp method -
First of all what u need is -
1) A Unlock Moto x [How To Unlock Please Follow The Steps ] -http://www.phonearena.com/news/How-to-unlock-the-bootloader-on-Motorola-phones-Moto-X-Moto-G_id53876

2) Twrp Recovery - http://twrp.me/devices/motorolamotox2013.html
How To Install Twrp I used Fastboot method to flash twrp , First of all you needed adb drivers, You can use - http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/adb-fb-apx-driver-universal-naked-t2513339

After Installing Adb Drivers, Open Cmd And Change Destination to Platform Tools

Now, After downloading the lollipop backup extract the zip
Now Go to file Exlporer Then Go to TWRP Folder Make A Folder Inside it and Rename Its As BACKUPS , Now Go Inside It And Make A New Folder And Rename As According to Your Moto x Serial No. , How To Know U r Moto X Serial No. - Go to Settings and tap About phone, Tap Status. Scroll to view "Serial number". And Rename It with your serial no.
Then Paste the lollipop Backup Inside It Now It will Look Like This -


Now , 1) Switch Off The Cell Now Press The Power On + Volume Down Button
2) Fastboot Menu Will Appear Then To Move Down Press Volume Down And Go to Recovery Option
3) Press Volume Up To select Then Twrp Recovery Will Come Now , Wipe Data,System , Cache And Dalvik Cache
4) Choose The Restore And Swipe It To Install :D :D Now Enjoy :D
This Is How I Flashed 5.1 On My XT1052 Without Updating Bootloader :D And Its Running Full Smooth Without Causing Fcs And Bugs :)

You can install SuperSU after restore this backup.
Best way is wipe data and cache.
For me battery life is little better.
I google'd for you meaning of life, there was no results and browser get fc when I search this.

Thanks it work fluently. I flashed it over AICP 5.1 rom with full wipe following your directions. I have a greek 1052 model

So the point of this thread is to restore a back up of someone's Lollipop 5.1 install

Does this backup only include system? Does it include radios? Or anything else?
Includes system and boot
Installed it on xt1052.
Working perfect
