I guys ... I'm trying to install Google Car Home app on my rooted Desire Z, but I need help .. Here's what I did:

Car Home wasn't available for my phone be default, so I tried going through MarketEnabler, and it still didn't work ..

So then I found this thread, according to which I first installed com.android.cardock-8-2.2.apk, and then installed com.google.android.carhome-18-2.2.1.4.apk ... Now 'Car Home' appeared in my apps, but when I opened it, it took a while, but then opened up HTC's Trips app instead .. ... I then also tried flashing the google signed package mentioned in OP of the above linked thread using CWM (using install ROM from SD Card option), but still when I opened Car Home from the apps list, it took about 30 seconds to instead open HTC's Trips app ...

So how the hell do I get this app to work !?

An alternative is searching and downloading the two old Car Home and Car Home Launcher for 2.2 ROM, install them to see if it starts HTC
Trip, rename that system app with root explorer will do.

P.S. I have just tried it for you with a custom 2.3 ROM Energy, and it works with four big pages for your favourite programs, that's 6x4 = 24 and then there're 3 predefined keys for Exit Car Mode, Settings and Brightness, so you'll get 21 choices of yours, hope this may help.
