I made my own factory cable just want to make sure it's done right.
I used a droid x2 cable and on the micro end I soldered a jummper to the empty pin next to the white wire, which should be pin #4 then from there to the red wire.

Does anyone know why Moto is allowed to call their connector USB when they don't comply to USB.ORG's standards and do things their own way?
The spec says that the device must present ether ground or high impedence on pin 4 (depending on if it plays A or B). I assume the pin does basically float, so it would comply on that. There is nothing at all in the spec about how a device can act on a signal present on pin 4. So it would not be non-complying by sensing line 4 and acting on it.

What is clearly non-compliant is the factory cable. But that is a non issue.

An interesting question though is if this cable allows the fuses to be reset? I have not read the Tegra specs, but some chips do allow fuses to be reset if a certain pin (on the chip) allows it.

Do you guys think we could unlock the locked bootloaders on newers Moto phones with this cable?
If yes then I would try to make a factory cable too ^^

Well what can I say
I was about to use my RAZR into the construction work as a brick lol.
My phone was having kernel issues with very high battery drain and it wasn't connecting to any PC in any mode then a friend just used the factory cable and the phone was instantly recognized by his PC and he flashed the stock with rsd lite and all my issues re gone but still it connects to PC only via factory cable only.

Hello justr want to ask, what if i use a cable, which has a green blue white and red cable, instead of a green and black as shown in the diagram. I connected it the exact same way, but it does not seem to load anything. When i connect the cable to my desktop and my phone, only a white light comes as in insert the cable in to the phone, but nothing happens next. My friends who are doing engineering said that it would work, but it is not..

ANy ideas?

FYI***

yes,
remove battery, and if you got a factory cable.. it will start without battery
I was given a "BlackBerry (crackberry) Charger" it works well. I found out it is a "Factory Cable"! I did this by accident and plugged it in without battery and was able to power and keep it on. What a surprise! I cannot guarantee every "Blackberry" Logo'd charger is. So if you have one laying around or see one in a yard sale, etc. Snatch it! Not sure if RIM sends these out by default or it was a methed out employee who mis-bundled it. I asked the friend and they said it came with the phone, which they dont have now...

Power Plug Details
Mine is White with a Grey Blackberry logo
RIM Part# HDW-24481-002
Model RIM-C 0004ADUUS-1 0FV2 <--THESE LETTERS WERE SPACED FURTHER APART.
