This seemed to work for me! +1 for Advanced Wifi Lock

Maybe I spoke too soon. Eventually turned off again...
How long did it take before wifi was turned off?

If it was about 20 minutes, then you've probably got the timeout option enabled which will disable wifi after 20 minutes, but you can just turn that option off and wifi should stay on indefinitely.

I've updated it and added a Wifi lock (in addition to wake lock) and it now checks your system wifi sleep policy.

It's worth trying the app again, as these changes should have improved support for more devices.

Note: After you've changed any settings, you need to press menu button, then save. Or just press the back button. If you just press your home button, it won't save changes or start the service.
