Hi guys,

i always wondered why the "x" on the back of the nexus 7 doesn't come in the nice nexus-colors...

So i did some modification to color it, and it looks really great!

This is just a quick how-to and i'm sure anyone can do it, too.

First of all, i thought about how to color it, and because i didn't want to get some permanent stuff on it, in case anything goes wrong, i decided to use tape for it.

So i ordered some tape in the matching nexus-colors, and made sure that the colors fit properly (light blue and green).
Cutting it out was actually pretty hard, because i had to do it very accurate, but i managed it.
After i attached it to the back using a tweezer, i looked awesome, but check it out, exactly how i imagined.

Its not perfect yet (red one is a little to big) but it seems to hold pretty good so far.
Cutting it out with a laser would be perfect, looking for someone who could do that atm...

But anyway, it looks so much better to me than the dull black, and i'm sure you like it, too!

This is really great.

I wonder if it would be easier using Acrylics paints. I think I am gonna give it a try some other day.
Thought about that, too.
Make sure to work very accurate, and tape off all the area around the "x", then this could be great. (I would paint 3 layers to make sure the color is well covering)

OK, I tried the Acrylics paints, but I failed terribly. The ditches of the X were so thin the paints ended up everywhere. I even used a sewing needle to work with it but no go. So I think OP using colored tapes is a smarter move.
