Very good information but if you are able to turn on your phone , it is not bricked at all. Its basically in a formatted state and needs to have a booting rom. Brick by definition is a total brick. NO LIFE, NO ENERGY. No lights. That is the thread I want to find. I bricked one and have not been able to recover. The Jig does not works on fascinate.

Well I followed your instructions, was able to get the phone into Recovery mode, but I needed the battery in for that to work. Anyways I used the Atlas 2.2 with CI500_VZW_EB01_FROYO and Odin did everything correctly I guess as the box went green and said Complete.

Now the phone won't even turn on, can't get it into Recovery mode or anything. It is truly bricked.
What I don't get is why this forum is for Telus Fascinate when there is firmware listed for Verizon? Why would I want that? Why is there no firmware for Telus?
What a waste of time.

Have you tried getting a different odin package, you will have to.google it or look around the forums. Odin 1.82 seems to be working the most reliable for the Charge, there is a DL for it in XDA's Charge forum, maybe it will work. If not and none of the drivers want to work try heimdall 1.3 from glass encinda(sp?) Also available from a google search, much different from the other version and there is also Samsung PST. Hopefully once you get something going odin will reconnect, at this point anything is worth trying to see if you can get something to recognize your Fascinate while in DL mode.

Yea I've tried a couple different versions. It's all mute since the laptop won't recognize the phone to finish installation of the USB drivers in DL mode though.

I flashed a AT&T Captivate stock rom to my fascinate by mistake. The only thing it would do is boot loop that stupid AT&T logo. Nothing else. No button download mode. Nothing. The jig put it right into download mode. Google "fascinate jig -captivate".

It is important to exclude captivate results in the search because that jig does not work for us.

I was able to use the ODIN method in this thread to bring my phone back to life.

Let me tell you though. I tried ODINv1.3 about 200 (yes two hundred) times before it worked. I was at the point where I would just do it while I was doing other things just to be doing it. Then last night. It just worked. I'm back to stock and the phone works perfectly. I tried all the different usb ports, different cables, different combinations of putting it into download mode, uninstalling and reinstalling Samsung drivers. If you brick your phone, all bets are off (especially if you flash another phone's software to it) and you just have to have patience.

That is what I learned from this.

Thanks to the OP for the info. My SGS is back from the grave.

UnBrickable Mod to the rescue... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288162

This will recover ANY brick... But because some douchebag named this thread inappropriately, I should say... UnBrickable Mod will recover any Brick for real!

This thread recovers only soft bricks. UnBrickable Mod is the only existing method to recover hard bricks.

i have the MD5 hash error i cant even get through the first step :/

Bad download, download another file and try again. MD5 hash value is to make sure you get a full non corrupt download, so if it is invalid than it's either corrupt or incomplete. Just try again or try a different file.

It clearly states in the thread that this is for the Verizon Fascinate and to use only Verizon Fascinate Roms, how is that confusing? READ and educate yourself before you complain about doing something STUPID because you didn't bother to read.

Since I'm really poor, for now all I can offer you is a very long, bearded make out section.

I've used this 2 times now and to me, the first time was worth a donation and I was in the same bucket. Huh huh huh. (being poor).
I've bookmarked your screen from a while ago and just used it again today. Will make it easy to donate to you when the funny munny comes thru again.

Thanks.
Take care and hope you're having a wonderful ICS day. Stuff looks neat.

Love ya lots!

I (because I am an idiot) flashed SP Recovery to my Fascinate because I got up to the point of having it rooted (superuser was loaded) but could not get into recovery to load roms or make a backup. Now it is stuck at the "Samsung" screen. I can get the phone into download mode but my windows 7 computer (also tried on XP with no luck) gives me the "USB Device not Recognized" error. I have loaded and reloaded the Samsung driver multiple times, I have tried to load the drivers with Kies. Even in download (yellow triangle) mode Heimdall or Odin will NOT see the device. I have tried multiple USB cables (including a Samsung original). I have been working and researching this for more than a week but just can't get the phone recognized by Odin or Heimdall so I can flash a new file. Can anyone point me in the right direction??

Thanks for the reply cooldman. My main issue is that Heimdall or Odin will not "see" the phone when it is in download mode. I believe this is because the drivers do not recognize the phone ( I get a "USB Device not Recognized" error ) no matter how many times I reload drivers. If someone could help me get the win 7 box (I have tried multiple computers) to recognize the phone I know how to push another rom to fix the issue.
