Thanks for the reply cooldman. My main issue is that Heimdall or Odin will not "see" the phone when it is in download mode. I believe this is because the drivers do not recognize the phone ( I get a "USB Device not Recognized" error ) no matter how many times I reload drivers. If someone could help me get the win 7 box (I have tried multiple computers) to recognize the phone I know how to push another rom to fix the issue.

Yeah I had a problem a few times with Odin recognizing the phone, the issue was the drivers. why do some have the expectation to be spoon fed when all the information needed lies in the stickies? just saying, not trying to be rude,, glad you got it figured out!!

Oh I was not expecting to spoon fed I just thought it would be as easy as rooting my Droid Incredible. Stupid samsung! I expected the community to be helpful as well to noobs. Now I have two different CM7 phones under my experience belt.

Well if you can get to Download Mode then you are still in good shape. I flashed the global version of the fascinate ROM (which was totally wrong I wasn't even able to connect to Verizon) and was still able to get CM7 on it through Odin and Heimdall. This was because I was able to get into Download Mode.
Maybe you try starting your own thread.
Like I said download the Sch-i500 driver at the first post of this thread. Just do a Ctrl F - Sch-i500. Install that (first remove the fascinate usb cable).
Hope that helps, once you are able to have Odin see the phone reply back.

I uninstalled the current USB driver and installed the one from the first post in this thread. "Driver Software Installation" box poped up and said "RAID Controller X No Driver Found". Started up ODIN v1.83, plugged in phone, put phone into download mode (yellow triangle), still not showing up in ODIN....

Hmm Raid Controller... that doesn't sound right at all. Try using a different computer. What usb cable are you using? Did usb EVER work?

I have tried 3 different computers (2 win 7 and one XP) with the exact same results. Also have tried multiple USB cables and USB ports on each computer. So strange....USB did work enough to get original root but it was intermittent

NVM, found an alternate way of putting the phone into download mode, ran Heimdall, which then allowed me to put the phone into download mode the described way, and then ran Heimdall again, which ended up fixing everything. Thanks!

I will Update thread to an easier format over the next few days. Thanks for the tip, i looked good to me but now i see what you are talking about. It took hours today to gather all the info, pull up each program ans walk through it. I guess I was in mental overload.

Why you're unable to give "thanks" in a sticky thread is beyond me. Just wanted to thank you for taking the time to put together the most helpful thread I've found on this phone.
Each phone is different, and it's sometimes tough to get all the particulars down without reading so much your eyes bleed. I found this thread last week when I first picked up my Fascinate after reading for about 3 hours trying to find what I needed.

Comp cant see phone

I tried to voodoo lagfix update it but now my computer cant find my phone so ODIN can fix it.
It keeps booting into recovery mode and asking to 1.reboot 2.run update.zip 3.factory restore 4.wipe cache

Whenever I go into download mode I get a window that says "USB device not recognized" and every time I try to load from the sd card I get a signature error and it aborts.

Someone please help.

WHat of the listed files will take me back to pure stock 2.2 so I can get to OTA the 2.3 and still be under warranty. I am soft bricked from the OTA 2.3 update, and I have to fight my way back or send the phone back as warranty. They are wiling to ship me a certified replacement, but if I can push it back I can not be phone-less for 2-3 days.

Just odin stock eh03 and you will be on official verizon stock gb...ota is a waste of time. Section 5 of my guide as icemanwbs posted.

just wanted to say thanks for all the info , I have learned alot from this post due to an unexpected ota update my family member did to there fasinate while it was rooted. saved me from buying them a new phone and explaining why it happened. and i had to use the option 2 heimdall for my unbricking process.odin did not acept my phone while bricked.
