Have you followed the steps? (explained in first post)
Note that you should have a rooted legend (if you don't know what that is then you don't have one)
Thanks for the fast reply.
i do have rooted phone.
i didnt do the step as above because the program look like it work ok. i did download the host file (from the app) and it say it was success. so what is the why i need the above for?
what it do? its not to get a host file?

If you don't have S-OFF then it won't work without those steps.
Adfree only works with phones that have root access while booted (S-OFF). If you only rooted you only have root access in the recovery. Therefore the prog will successfully get the host files but it will place it on the SD as it doesn't have access to the /system/etc.

Those steps are the steps to place the host file into the /system/etc (where it needs to be to block the ads)
Without the host file at the right place it simply won't work

well i did root the phone and also have a new room on it so i believe i did root ok. but let think i didnt do it ok and the "host" file is going into SD crad. can i copy it with root explorer app to the /system/etc?
if so were is the location of the last host file on sd?

The root will be ok, S-OFF is something totally different, not going to explain the whole thing, there is a topic about S-OFF that you can read if you're interested.

You can't use root explorer cause you DON'T have access to the system WHILE BOOTED, that's why I made this guide on how to copy it.

I'm not going to explain it once more, use the guide it will work, and read before you do something, you've rooted your phone but you have no idea what it does.

I like to help people but I'm not going to help if you don't put any effort in it yourself.

Adds force closing...

Hi, I went through all the steps listed on the first post and all were successful but something went wrong. Certain apps that had adds running now close instantly when the add is supposed to load. Also a few basic websites like Google load in my browser, but others that have adds force close as well. Does anyone understand why this has caused the apps/browser to force close? Thanks.

I have used adfree, quite a long time now. I have not had any FC because of this.
You can try my hosts file http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ICBABIJR
*Extract to root on sdcard
*Reboot recovery
*Mount /system and /sdcard
* copy /sdcard/hosts => /system/etc/hosts

Why is it that when I "download and install hosts" it reboots my phone but nothing gets downloaded to my sdcard? I searched the whole card for "hosts" but it couldn't find anything

Install attached hosts, from BlaY0 B0.7, in recovery mode.
This is working for the CM7 nightly built, for other Roms I don't know.

For those S-ON Legend users still having difficulty getting adfree working, try these commands instead of those in the OP:

Code:
1. adb reboot recovery
2. start recovery-windows
3. adb shell mount /system
4. adb shell mount /sdcard
5. adb shell mount /data
6. adb shell cp /sdcard/hosts /data/data/hosts
7. adb shell ln -s /data/data/hosts /system/etc/hosts
8. adb reboot
Kudos to Mark for the tip: http://www.markgillespie.co.uk/?p=37

Okay so i guess i was stupid but i didnt backup this file before replacing it

the file am talking about is : /system/etc/hosts

Here is a screenshot of what it look like now

I actually want to get rid of it to see vids on one particular site.
the site is www.rds.ca

is there a way to add an exception or something like that for this site only?

so far i saw that its the only site that have a problem with the ad blocking
