Got my new sd card in and attempted tried to start the process, but it seems I'm completely unable to root at all now. Kingo just constantly reports back Fail: NotSupport. I've tried at least 3 dozen times with different cables, slots, cables etc. It also look like Kingo's twitter feed has gone silent. Anyone else having issues rooting with Kingo over the last day or so?

I'm having the same issues on my MJE Note 3. Nothing works at all. Are there any other methods at this time?

If you can't root via Kingo, something else (not Kingo) is the issue. People are rooting with kingo, getting a failed root warning, then finding out they are actually rooted. If you have ROOT check, see if this is the case with you. If not, continue below:

Tell me your exact process for setting up to root:
- are you using the step by step instructions in the thread?
- Have you downloaded the correct files from the links?
- Did you uninstall pervious Samsung files before installing newest ones?
- Have you turned your PC anti-virus off and adj your display on time to 10 minutes?

Get back to me and let me know your status.

So I received the phone on MJE so I skipped the ODIN Flash. I followed the instructions for Kingo. I used all stock cables (first multiple tries) with Windows 7 and vista. I had Kingo install the drivers as well as myself when that failed. I tried using 2 different machines with no anti-virus software. I used both USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports with both types of cables. I've truely tried each potential option to my knowledge.

Does the PC see your device?

Does the Kingo app "see" your device? If so, how far do you get in the process?

The PC does see the device and so does Kingo. In Kingo, It runs through the downloading of scripts, check root, d/l files, check root..NotSupport.

Thats about it.
D/L Root Checker and see if you actually have root. A few users have said when they couldn't get kingo to root, they actually HAD root even though Kingo said root failed.

Already checked that.

Should I try Vroot since this is not working?

While I've never tried vroot, you can certainly try it. Let me know either way if Vroot was successful for you.

You can still follow the rest of the steps after you get root if Vroot works. Good luck!

I have a sneaky suspicion that Vroot won't work since Kingo didn't Kingo is so basic if it fails, it's usually not the rooting method but the device, or the files needed to get to root), but I hope I'm, wrong!

Should I flash MJE via ODIN to see if that fixes my problem?

I ended up going with VROOT. This worked for rooting my MJE note 3. Once back and running I put phone into airplane mode and ran safestrap. I then installed Chains SU and all seems good now.

I put the phone into airplane to disable and Chinese crap from sending data.

This is one of those times I love being wrong.. I am glad Vroot worked for you, odd how Kingo has issues with only certain devices.

Had to use vroot, Kingo didnt work. Got it on the first time with vroot. Then followed the rest of the steps. Now I have superSu.. all is well. Thanks for the info. I feel the same way oconnell84 does. I liked the multi-step processes with many files to root. Seemed more secure and definately more entertaining.

When i go into supersu it asks if I should have it try to disable knox. I usually cancel. I was wondering if accepting would have and side effects, or at least get rid of that popup

Of the many times I've rooted with Kingo, when getting to the "Disable Knox" half the times I ignored it, the other half I chose "Disable Knox" and both ways resulted in Knox NOT being tripped.

Looks like I'll have to add a link to Vroot for those who Kingo doesn't work for...

Also, might be worth mentioning that the PC has to have internet to fetch the kingo or vroot files. I was on a crappy connection, maybe that had something to do with Kingo not working.

* * * ATTN: PRIOR to flashing a Rom built on MJE update, you should be running MJE (take OTA update or install MJE tar via Odin) then reroot via Kingo, install Safestrap * * *

But that's not true, I'm on cleanrom which is MJE but my baseband still shows M19 and I'm not having any major issues.

Well, other than I want to seriously increase my data install limit. I can only increase it to 4gb, default leaves me with just shy of 2gb free displayed in Storage.

I want like, the entire remaining internal storage of like 23gb. I have at least 10gb of apps i want to have all on here.

It doesn't say it won't work, but it keeps 100's of bug posts due to old firmware from filling threads. Even you admit 'no major problems' which means you DO have issues.

Most ROM OPs suggest updating to MJE before flashing their MJE Rom as well...

To have your actual memory available for use, flash rom on Stock slot, delete any roms on slots 1-4.

I just got my Verizon Galaxy Note 3 today in White. I've been home with the phone for all of 2 hours.

I'm hasty. I have to root immediately, I don't want to have to set everything up twice. I looked at the version number, saw MJE at the end and assumed I had MJE.

I tried the vroot posted a few pages back, and that didn't work. It did install the Chinese stuff on my phone, which I promptly removed from my PC and wiped the phone.

I googled for Kango, installed it, granted permissions etc. and now I'm rooted. Quick and easy, verified with root checker and SuperSU is now installed.

Just thought I would share. I've since installed SafeStrap, then SuperSU and now I'm looking at ROM's.

Thanks for the helpful post, it certainly worked for me.

Oh, cable is just some old micro-USB cable I've had plugged into my laptop. USB 2.0 I believe, not 3.0. Maybe it'll help others maybe not.

Glad it all went smooth for you! A few top roms that I've spent considerable time on: Baja, Jelly 'Beans', and Eclipse. First two are JK themed, Eclipse is closest to AOSP.

All the rom links in this thread are quality roms built by great devs, the beauty of safestrap is: you can have FIVE of them ready to boot with a few simple clicks!

Yeah, this is awesome. I can try a ROM without even having to do a backup first!

This is better than my GS4. I'm on Baja right now. I'll have to check out Eclipse since I'm coming from CyanogenMod 11.

So far, some of these pen features are awesome. I hadn't even really used the Note 3 until after I rooted and ROM'd.
