New note 3 owner. No luck with Kingo. Haven't gotten English version of vroot yet. I'll get there. Phone is running naked and it looks awesome.

you talked me into it.....I'm a sucker for peer pressure. I followed the tutorial(thank you so much for that, btw) at the end of it all......there was an app that was installed on my device. The logo was blue with a backwards "p"....is was in Chinese. I went to app manager and uninstalled it.

Is that any cause for concern? Anyone else have that?

OK, I tried to search but I didn't find any results ...

Rooted my Verizon N3 with Kingo no problems ... I trued to flash the SuperUser apk in Safestrap and lost root! Now I can't seem to get root access back ...

EDIT: Weird ... never mind ... I used Root Explore and navigated to system/app. Saw the SU apk was indeed there. Clicked on it and chose to install it ... it installed and all is good!
Thanks for this......I was having the same issue. I just hope it is the Chainfire one and not the one that was installed with Kingo. Is there anyway to tell? Only thing I see is that the SU app says vs 1.85. So I'm thinking I'm good.

I honestly don't know what version is installed ... I am assuming it is CF's version

I've got an older version of Kingo that worked for me first shot. Let me know if you want it and I'll upload it to Dropbox

I went with vroot, mainly because I understand the exploit process with that program... Kingo is mysterious (and didn't work, btw) and u don't trust it.

Vroot is in all Chinese, but if you pay attention, it's slicker than snot.

I don't know if anyone has posted this, but there is an error in this statement:

"Verify USB DEBUGGING is CHECKED in system settings>developer option (click 'BASE Version' in 'About Phone' 7 times to UNHIDE Developer Option) "

You are supposed to click "Build Version", not "Base Version." Took me a few minutes to figure it out. :)

..What the... Now mine does too? Maybe with Stock firmware it says build version and on a custom ROM it shows Base Version. There's a cell phone kiosk inside my store with a Note 3 on display. I'll see what it says and take a picture if it's different. I could be crazy, but I'm pretty sure I'm not.
