I used kingo root one click it worked well for me but had to enable usb debugging mode so that the phone is recognized by kingo root app from pc. Yes it didn't mess my Knox security either. I booted my phone in Odin mode and verified it was 0x0 not 0x1. Also, yes when you use super user app it asks you if you want to disable Knox security and I always say yes. I can't stand unrooted phones:). First thing I do when I buy new phones I come home and root that sucker to get me eternal satisfaction and freedom:). I'm on mj7 and had note 3 for 18 hours now:)

18 hrs? Lol! Sweet...I waited a week this time and haven't flashed a rom yet. And the above mentioned root method worked flawlessly...

I told myself I want going to mess with this thing for awhile, got it on Black Friday, and I rooted by Saturday night. Couldn't stand not having root I guess. Maybe it's just a mental thing. :)

Rooting N9002 possible??

I am new here. I bought N9002 two weeks ago in China and unfortunately let the OTA to upgrade to MJ6.
Have anybody tried to root N9002 (Chinese Dualsim) with MJ6 firmware? I have understand, that it was possible on Verizon MJ7 which is also newer FW.

I keep getting message that it was not possible to root using standard exploits (or something like that) and I get the option to use other method (flash CWM,...). But I dont want to trip knox right now.

Thx in advance

Kingo says it can root any phone... I'd give it try, it took me 3 attempts and all is well. Visit their site. Can't post link as XDA doesn't allow it yet. Easy Google search... Best of luck, report back with your results...

mea culpa - i haven't written it properly, so this time better:
I have already tried to use kingo about 5 times. It tries to root about 5 minutes and than i get a message:
"It is impossible to root your device by employing exploits. Next, we will try to root it by flashing custom recovery trough odin mode, which will void your waranty claim. Are you sure you want to continue?"

But I don't want to trip knox of course (i have made type error in first post - already corrected)

I have noticed one thing. As i click on root, i get security infomation (with shield like icon) on my phone - "an application attempted to acces system on your device without authorization. This attempt has been blocked. Updating your security policy may solve this problem. Deleting applications obtained from unauthorized sources may improve security"
If I click on update, i get an error that there is no network connection.

Did I miss something?

//edit:
the security message is caused from "Knox Notification Manager", I have tried to force close and clear cache and data. I will see if it helps.

Almost sounds like you don't have "allow unknown sources" checked, and "verify apps" unchecked ... Settings > security...

First off thanks to the OP for this thread. Very detailed and informative.

I'm getting my note 3 Friday and finally retiring my note 2 on beans 22.

Lots to learn here as far as safestrap, root, etc..
Hope as I learn I could help out some newbies as well.

SafeStrap sounds kind of difficult if you've never used it. Once you get in there it's easy and well made. Creating, activating, increasing data partitions, etc all sounded daunting at first, until I actually USED SafeStrap once. Hashcode did an excellent job with how user friendly SS is.

I agree. I watched some of the install videos from Shane aka DroidmodderX to get familiar.
I've been running twrp for quite some time and it is built off that so hopefully it's an easy transition
