So now there's towelroot that has given us root on stock NC4.

Any FAQ for us users who didn't have the option to upgrade from earlier roots? Looking for the tips for dummies on what safestrap to install, etc. Pointers (in thread or PM if that is OT) to clean/stable KK ROMs would be handy as well.

OK. This worked after the 5th time. Lol. Now where should I go.

Enjoy the assortment of 4.3 roms OR follow the other link in my sig to update from 4.3 to NC2 4.4.2 (leak).

I prefer BajaROM. But Beans 6 (4.3) or Beans deodexed NC2 are good options.

Make sure you flash a 4.3 rom on MJE or a 4.4.2 on NC2 leak.

And don't take the Official VZW OTA

Install the KitKat safestrap, open the app, click "install", then reboot. When the weird splash screen with the red robot thing on it pops up, you tap either recovery, or normal boot... OK don't remember the text of the button on the right but the left one is recovery, the right one is boot normally. Once in recovery, tap " backup" and rename it if you want, or just swipe the button to start backup, and take a 5 minute nap while your phone makes you an insurance policy. Then if you ever screw something up, you can get right back to this point by tapping "restore" from recovery, and selecting the file you made.

OK. I'm back to where I started with my backup on safestrap. Thanks yell for the help and I was able to use 7 zip to unzip the file az-biker. Thanks so much.

Now to figure out what I done wrong. I have been rooting my phones ever since the OG Droid slider. Lol. I rooted it, my bionic, note 2, RAZR, and I don't even remember my other phones off hand now it's been so many. And this is the first time I have ever messed one up. Talking about crapping bricks. Lol. Thanks again y'all..

Using Safestrap on the N3 makes flashing custom rom considerably different than say, the totally unlocked boot loader devices of the past.

I had to learn new terminology (rom slots, data partitions, etc) and a new flashing process that didn't allow cust kernels.

Luckily, in addition to each other, we have GOOGLE! :D

Tell me again if you're on 4.3 or NC2 (or whatever your current config is) and where you'd like to go, I'll get you pointed in the right direction. :p
Let me know if that worked.

So you're running MJE. If you are wanting to get on the NC2 leak, just follow that link in my sig "update from 4.3 to 4.4" and you'll be right as rain. All links and files needed are there.

Should take less than 30 minutes once all files are downloaded... Read the steps first, make sure you understand them, then do it. If you need anything or aren't sure about any step, just ask!

OK. Thanks. Once I go to NC2, do I go to NC4 next to have 4.4

NC2 leak is actually better than NC4. Beans recommended sticking with NC2 as some exploits included in NC2 leak are not included in NC4, and won't likely be released in the future.

There is NC4 modem/boot loop fix that is flashed in Odin after updating to NC2 leak (it's not the full NC4 firmware) . Many are seeing better reception /signal. Some report no difference.
