Delay? No problem, don't rush this.

Copy AP file to phone (the big file).
Install magisk.apk on you phone (open the downloaded with file manager).
Open magisk, patch the ap file.
It will create a big patched file (with diffirent name).
Copy the patched big file to your computer.
Follow the steps (choose the files in Odin and flash).
Don't forget to install magisk after the odin proces and finish setup

I think I got it. I'll do it later. Thank you very much for your very useful help.
Afterwards, will I still receive the Samsung automatic updates, or do I have to search for them?

i use a Note 20 Ultra 5G rooted with safetynet fixed, samsung health latest working.

i stumbled upon this thread as i was doing some research on Fold4 if it can be rooted and i can upgrade my phone 🙂

I am using this magisk module which fixes issues with Samsung Health app and Galaxy Wearable getting frozen at times due to it . This module after i installed has fixed Samsung Health and im using the latest version installed from playstore. Here is the link to the developers page on Github of the module 🙂

Hello I occasionally get the message.....Access denied... Unauthorized changes have been made to you phone. To get help, contact Customer Service how can I set it or what do I have to do so that it is no longer displayed?

Yea I wonder if you just need to be on a U1 firmware and the change csc, but apparently it's GCF=Global Certification Forum I figured it might have the OEM unlock showing

The the only thing after reading that is it makes me even more confused on what my correct firmware is supposed to be bought my Zfold right from att but my firmware doesn't match att csc code but matchs t-mobile ans meto csc etc under the f936u varient

As well would any one who has been able to root there device have logs of when the did oem unlocked there drive they could share, or even possibly have some emmc firehose's they know of to post here so I can continue testing with eld mode im not quite sure what I'm looking for sense eventing I search just brings me to different manufacturer phones

I dont' mean to derail from the main thread. Just want to state that this guide worked for my Z Fold3 5G - SM-F926B/DS with the latest Android security level patch (1 December 2022)

why do people even still root? We used to do that when we had obsolete Phones or when OS updates didn't exceed one year. But why now? and with the latest phone in the market?!

    Don't count us out yet, I've been messing around with the CSCs and finally was able to get my U to flash U1 XAR firmware and went to change CSC to see if there was any new "Compatible" Csc sure enough the XAR varient appears to be compatible with all US and just so happens to be a B varient as well WWD witch I'm running Said WWD csc , just more testing to be done!!! We will have are freedom sooner then later I doo believe!

    Time for Android 13 update, fresh install for me with root.
    Backup and restoring apps, much work but it works and is worth it for me.
    Little effort to write down my steps (hope it helps somebody).

    First things first:

    - This DOES NOT work on all models:
    The US (and maybe more models) do NOT allow root.
    Only the B, N, and /DS models are rootable at the moment.

    - Also there are known issues with Samsung Health and Gear (connecting watch)
    - See second post for F.A.Q.!

    I was able to root my Fold 4 and under here are the steps.
    I hope it make sense and otherwise i will answer questions/try to help.

    Steps in short:
    - Enable Developer Mode (on phone action).
    - OEM unlock (on phone action).
    - note the software version.
    - Download needed firmware.
    - Patch AP in Magisk (on phone action).
    - Finish OEM unlock in Download mode (this will RESET the device)
    - Setup phone again and connect wifi (that's important i guess).
    - Flash patched AP with Odin

    Steps with more explanation and screenshots:

    - Enable Developer mode (on phone action)
    Navigate to Settings > About device > Software information >
    Click on Build number (7 times) until you see a message that says: You are now a developer!

    - OEM unlock (on phone action)
    Navigate to Settings > Developer Options (at the Bottom) Find OEM unlock and toggle it to on.
    If this option is not there then probaly your phone cannot be rooted (see second post)

    - note the software version:
    Navigate to Settings > About device > Software information > Software Version.
    Example (bold is what is needed):
    SSOAMC_SM-F936B_OXM_EUX_12_0045
    EUX/-/EUX/EUX

    - Download needed firmware:
    https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-F936B/ (I downloaded from here)
    https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-z-fold-4/firmware/
    https://samfrew.com/model/SM-F936B/

    - Patch AP in Magisk (on phone action)
    Download and install Magisk on your phone:
    https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/latest
    Copy the AP file to your phone example:
    AP_F936BXXU1AVGA_F936BXXU1AVGA_MQB54005121_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta_OS12.tar.md5
    to phone, patched file in Magisk and choose the AP file.
    magisk_patched-25200_KYFoy.tar is created.
    Copy this file back to computer next to the other firmware files.

    Now you've got everything and you can start the proces:

    - Finish OEM unlock in Download mode (this will RESET the device!)
    This was hard to do; i hope the instructions are do-able, please comment.
    power off, hold volume up&down, connect USB cable to PC.
    the screen is dark and hard to read.
    HOLD volume up key to unlock bootloader and press volume up again to confirm.

    - Setup phone again and connect wifi (that's important i guess).
    After finishing the setup check under developer options or bootloader unlocked is on and greyed out.

    - Flash patched AP with Odin
    I flashed the whole firmware (could be usefull with new samsung updates), took about 4 minutes:
    BL
    AP (patched file) <- i guess only this one was needed.
    CP
    CSC

    - Setup the phone, install Magisk and check.
    After finishing the setup, install Magisk, it will do some last finishing setup (and reboot) and you've got root!
    My phone is rooted, LSPosed Zygisk also working without any problem.

    The global model has the bands most similar to the American one. The south Korean model doesn't use the same 5G bands used in america. The only models that can be found on ebay are are U and N.

    - Can i update my Fold 4 after root?    :
    Automatic updates will not work!
    You can however download new firmware and keep your data: see pvillasuso his post
    in this thread: Update and keep root and data
    Grab your latest firmware , get the AP file and patch it with your magisk app
    Then Odin flash the full firmware , using the AP magisk patchfile @ AP Tab
    Use CSC_HOME file @ CSC Tab ( to keep all your data and actual setup )
    Done > Updated with root + data + setup

    - Any known problems with device after rooting it?:
    First off all rooting can have his downsides, think about global things like banking apps not working.
    Besides that; Not many Fold 4 users are rooted yet i guess, so it's possible there will come known issues.
    For now:

    - Gear WearAble is NOT working correctly (my buds work, my watch keeps pairing).

    - Samsung Health is NOT working correctly (error on opening)
    FIX: Version from here: https://adil.hanney.org/SamsungAppsPatcher/ is working fine.

    - Camera's are working fine as far as i know for now.
