Pathetic on part of lenovo, this phone is not even a year old since release in India in August 2016 .
Even if Lenovo had provided a way to unlock bootloader and install cuatom ROMs, users could have tried to stay happy with that, but no, we cannot do even that .
I will be advising all my friends and family to stay away from Lenovo phones , and try to sell off the one that I bought .
I'm not sure but I think no one is working on this right now. Unless if there is some dev who bought this phone and is hellbent to unlock the bootloader, I don't think anything is going to happen in this thread.Devs still working or this topic is dead can you confirm?
Well that's bad news .we need root and recovery ?I'm not sure but I think no one is working on this right now. Unless if there is some dev who bought this phone and is hellbent to unlock the bootloader, I don't think anything is going to happen in this thread.
Bad indeed. I don't know myself how to do it. Have passed the phone to a family member, and bought myself a redmi note 4, much more mod-friendly. Lenovo can not even dream of competing with xiaomi if they don't even let people unlock bootloaders. I do hope that someone here on xda can manage to unlock the bootloader, but I'm not holding my breath.Well that's bad news .we need root and recovery
Wow, that's just sad. I've never seen a lazier dev team for any phone I've purchased.Yeah. Its official now. K5 note will not receive a nougat update.

I think it's a management thing , lenovo must not have put up any dev team for k5 note (and other recent phones) at all . They might be able to save some revenue by doing that , but in the long run dissatisfied customers will only dissuade people they know from buying lenovo. Nothing beats word of mouth publicity , either good or bad .Wow, that's just sad. I've never seen a lazier dev team for any phone I've purchased.
My schedule is almost cleared up. I'll get to rooting this device in April, once I'm totally free. I'm hell-bent on doing it too, I just don't have the time right now.
Who knows.... maybe I'll even design my first ROM and keep this phone alive? We'll just have to wait and see if rooting works out first.
I think they just don't want to support devices beyond one version upgrade. Much less expensive that way, as you've said, but only in the short run. I'm also going to steer away anybody planning to buy a new phone from Lenovo. Horrible update policy, don't you think?I think it's a management thing , lenovo must not have put up any dev team for k5 note (and other recent phones) at all . Fingers crossed, indeed. If you are able to root and compile a new ROM that'll be super-awesome mate. Fingers crossed.
Some sets like Vibe k5, vibe c, vibe c2 are not going to receive even one major upgrade .I think they just don't want to support devices beyond one version upgrade.
