I was on stock rooted 4.4.2 honestly don't know what version that is.
But now when I go in to the apn settings its black and when I try to add one it just stays blank
but what step you did to install? did you ODIN back to NC2 or you install the deodexed rooted zip with safestrap. best to always do a factory reset while in safestrap,

I used the alternative custom rom method, with the deodexed, rooted ROM, and now my phone won't charge on the wireless charger I've been using since I got the phone.

Any ideas as to whether it is a 4.4.4 thing or something specific to the rom?
Since upgrading with the keep root zip I am getting an error after anytime I reboot any thoughts?
Everything worked great ,but now I cant add any apns and I have no data anyone else?
This is the first I am hearing of any of these issues so I also would be interested if others have experienced the same?

tried the keep root zip file

I tried the keeproot file and it did not work.

I have a 4.4.2 att note 3, it is rooted with towelroot, and I do have the safestrap 3.72, it gets about 25% and then says fail.

It is a stock rom with all my apps, other than the root.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

I do not really need to update, it is more of hobby to try and get the 4.4.4 ATT note 3 so I can give a big finger to ATT and their tethering restriction.

This method uses a modified version of the official NJ5 OTA to update and "Keep Root." The file is flashed in Safestrap and the end result is a 100% Stock, Rooted, NJ5 Device. However you must be 100% Stock NC2 (except for root and Safestrap) before proceeding.

**You can Odin back to NC2 after taking the NJ5 update if you decide to do so**

1. Place the N900A_NC2-NJ5-KeepRoot_OTA.zip in the root of your ext sdcard.
2. Boot into Safestrap recovery but Do Not Wipe!
3. Flash the N900A_NC2-NJ5-KeepRoot_OTA.zip in the "Stock Slot." Once flashing is complete press "Home" and reboot into "Download Mode".
4. Last, flash the N900A_NJ5_Stock_Kernel in Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+).

Once complete the phone will reboot then "optimize apps" before completely rebooting. Done!

Notes:
1. Neither User Data nor your Knox Warranty Flag will be affected using this method.
2. Should the update fail consider flashing back to factory stock NC2 using the files in the following thread then rooting and installing Safestrap: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/n900aucucnc2-odin-files-t2838117

Known Issues:
1. Safestrap will not function after updating to NJ5 4.4.4.

Alternative Custom ROM Method:

Here they are: (If you don't know the difference between each ROM please use the search function!)
N900A_NJ5_100%_Stock_Rooted_ROM.zip
N900A_NJ5_Stock_Deodexed_Rooted_ROM.zip

1. Use Safestrap's "Backup" function to backup your User Data.
2. Place the ROM onto your ext-sdcard.
3. Reboot into Safestrap recovery then perform an "Advanced Wipe" and wipe everything but your ext-sdcard.
4. Flash the ROM using the "Stock Slot."
5. Once complete press "Home" then "Restore" and restore User Data.
6. Next press "Reboot" and reboot into "Download Mode."
7. Flash the N900A_NJ5_Stock_Kernel.tar.md5 in Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+). Done!

Thanks to @carl1961 for sharing his nandroid backups used to create the ROM's!

Notes:
1. This Custom ROM process will update your Modem, Non-hlos, System, Kernel, Stock Recovery, and Bootloader to NJ5.
2. Follow all of the above steps in the order provided and do not skip any steps or you may experience issues with your device!
3. Safestrap will not function after updating to NJ5 4.4.4

The error msg when flahing should tell you what isn't stock and preventing the flash but rather than fuss with that I suggest you either Odin back to factory stock NC2 or use the Alternative method. And yes, you and I share the same motivation for rooting.

success!!

I just want to say that the alternate method worked like a charm! I know have root on a ATT Note 3 with Kitkat 4.4.4.

I know that 4.4.4 is not that big of a deal, but it is just a think with me to give the phone companies a big finger when they update to keep us from free tether and controlling my phone and what I pay for.

Excellent!!

F the bs.....im tryna see what that lollipop action is about. *Random thought* It would be funny if Lollipop by Lil Wayne was the theme song for this era. And it was the boot sound. "Lick me like a lollipop" would be the start boot sound and the cut off boot sound would be "So I let her lick the wrapper" Lol

Would it be possible to flash 4.4.4 ROMs using the workaround that was used to flash 4.4.2 ROMs before official AT&T KitKat was released? The workaround was to use Odin to flash a JB kernel, boot into Safestrap, flash a ROM, reboot into download mode, flash a KitKat kernel, then reboot.

Edit- I just tried this and the 4.4.4 ROM I flashed did boot (sound works, buttons light up, etc), but the screen is stuck at the Galaxy Note 3 screen :crying:

Yes @Face_Plant , I have been doing that ,

when you want to use the safestrap recovery to install a rom or backup or restore to NC2 you odin install NC2 kernel,

then if your going back to NJ5 press back key to back out of installer or recovery mod in recovery then hit reboot then you will get downlod option(do not hit reboot after a rom install) then odin install NJ5 kernel to boot any 4.4.4 rom

Any idea why my phone wouldn't boot? I tried to flash this ROM but couldn't solve my stuck screen issue. It states in the thread that it uses the stock kernel and doesn't mention anything about using Aroma, so it should work. I just finished Odining (is that a word?) back to NC2 to try again.

n00b question: the kernel goes in the AP slot in Odin, correct?

yes You will need the NJ5 kernel to run that, also you need to install this ATT_NJ5_overlay.zip right after you install the rom

This didn't work for me. Got stuck at the galaxy note 3 screen and the ss splash screen actually didn't even show. Nothing but odining back to NC2 worked for me.

Worked for me. I was able to boot, set everything up, etc. The only problem is I can't adjust the volume in the settings menu and I can't access the about device menu to activate developer options :(
