One more thing....after flashing the rom and before exiting safestrap to go into download mode, can you go into safestrap's "advanced" menu then "copy log to sd" and send me the log? thx.
Gotcha. Just got home from work. remind me again what I need to do, please. I'm on pure NC2 with only root and safestrap. Ready to go.

N900A_NJ5_Stock_Deodexed_Rooted_ROM.zip

I made this using your nandroid if anyone coming from NC2 wants to try flashing and seeing if there is any difference in safestrap's function on 4.4.4:

1. Place onto ext sdcard
2. Go into safestrap and do an Advanced Wipe and wipe everything but extsdcard.
3. Flash the ROM in stock slot.
4. Press "Home" amd go into download mode and flash the N900A_NJ5_Stock_Kernel.tar.md5
I'm guessing just flash the rom and before booting up put the phone in DL mode and flash kernel, right? I'll do that this afternoon after work.
Correct.

This should sum it up. Thx.

Just did it and the phone has booted up. I'm setting up now. Didn't see any SS splash screen, though. After I flashed the kernel (NJ5) the phone booted up to the "samsung galaxy note 3" splash screen (with the custom sign on the bottom) and it went dark for a split second then went back to the same galaxy note 3 screen. I'm guessing it tried to bring up the SS splash screen but something stopped it. What else do you need me to do, sir?

from my S5 (of course running Alliance beast, I mean ROM)

Hmm, no bueno. Once you set-up see if you can reinstall safestrap via the apk. Once I see the log I will see if there is anything else we can do.

Did update. No SS but it is rooted. Good enough for now. A lot faster to me. Thanks. Look forward to SS
You took the Ota update then rooted? Did you use towelroot?

@muniz_ri it says "installed" but it doesn't boot to SS. Do you rhino it's safe to reflash the NC2 kernel back on top of this? LOL

Yes, Carl was able to Odin flash back the NC2 Kernel and the ss splash screen came up upon reboot. Not much of a solution but so far it is what it is. Also, do you have any experience using ADB?

I want to thank everyone for the work here to retain or regain root on the AT&T Note 3, I had to fall back to a stock setup of NC2 to get the package to flash but it is currently doing so and Odin is at the ready to flash the NJ5 kernel. While Safestrap is nice to have root is the most important to me as I will not allow all the bloatware to run draining my resources.

Thanks to Muniz-Ri I have setup my wifes S4 and now my N3 to 4.4.4 and root permissions. Thank you for all that you do and are currently working on sir!!!

In the "Alternative Custom ROM" method of install - will we still be able to boot into safestrap at step 7?

I was under the impression (from reading every post in this thread) that once you flash the nj5 kernel that you cannot boot into safestrap. If you can't boot safestrap, then you cant restore the data that you previously backed up in safestrap.

I want to try this method but wanted to confirm that Im understanding the process correctly and that it does work as described.

Thanks for all your hard work on this. You have done an awesome job keeping our N3 current.

lol, good catch! I cut and paste the process from other devices I have supported. Can you instead see if you are able to restore data immediately after flashing the ROM and let us know? thx
