Yes it will, I did it last night. Just be sure you are towelrooted on NK3 as in the OP. Then follow the instructions in the link I provided just above your post.
JimSmith,

I'm confused with your response. There is the procedure in the link you reference, which uses Mobile Odin Pro. BUT... are you saying that you used the procedure listed in Post #1 of THIS thread (Effortless) and it worked? In other words (to paraphrase), you flashed stock FOB6, then flashed NE6 kernel, executed TowelRoot, and then flashed back the FOB6 kernel? If you did it this way, where did you get the kernel tar file for FOB6?

I have MOP, so I will probably go that path, but was curious if you were stating you used Effortless' method and had success.

Thanks.

@JimSmith94 I read on mobile Odin that if you use it to flash that Knox will be tripped...Is that true? Just being cautious because I don't want to trip my Knox counter.
Yes it does say that, but a quick Google search showed that it only happens on certain phones, of which ours isn't one. I used mobile Odin, it worked fine, and did not trip the Knox counter.

I used the procedure in this OP to update to NK3, odin the NE6 kernel, towelroot, and then reload the NK3 kernel. Then I used the method in my link to update my rooted NK3 to OB6 and keep root. I didn't try flashing the NE6 kernel on OB6.

The T-Mobile Note 3 has started getting the NOB6 Lollipop update. Does anyone know if this will work, or tried this method on it? I would think that if we can load the NE6 Kernel, it should work. I don't have the update yet, but would like to be ready for this when it does hit my phone.
It won't.

Putting the 0b6 firmware with NE6 kernel won't allow the phone to boot.
Currently you have to use the mobile Odin pro way (mop) to keep root.

Thanks for the confirmation. I ended up using the method I posted just above your post and it worked great.

I didn't . I just had to know. So currently i could pc odin back to KK but i would have to factory reset for it to boot up. I have apps i need to save (app and data!!) but now i can't because i'm not rooted.

Life is full of catch 22's it seems.

Minor problem, BUT all is good!

First, I would like to say what a awesome job! Thank you so much for a perfect, SIMPLE root! I also want to say, awesome D/L. U included ALL the files necessary in 1 zip. VERY nice! :good:

I saw something after following this section, got me worried:

Flashing NE6 Kernel
  1. Turn off your phone and then hold the Volume Down, Home Button, and Power Button at the same time, when the phone vibrates, let go of Power Button. Press Volume Up to continue past the "Warning!!" screen.
  2. Open the EffortLess Root Prep folder and double click on EffortLess Odin.exe
  3. Connect your phone to the computer via USB cable (one of the boxes under ID:COM in Odin will fill with a com number and turn baby blue meaning it can communicate with your phone.. if it does not, unplug your phone and run EffortLess Odin USB Driver.exe from the EffortLess Root Prep unzipped folder. Now plug your phone in again and it should load the driver and the box should turn baby blue and display a com number)
  4. Click the PDA button and navigate to the unzipped EffortLess Root Prep folder, click on N900TUVUDNE6_KERNEL.tar.md5 and click Open
  5. Wait for the file to load properly in Odin, it will take a minute and you'll see a check-mark to the left of the PDA button and the system path of the root file to the right.
  6. Now click start and wait, don't touch anything until after your phone restarts.

After completing this section, I checked my Baseband version and it showed I was still running NK3. Got me worried, but I tried running towelroot anyway. I had tried it a week ago and got the "This device is not supported message" so I figured I would get that message if it hadn't downgraded to NE6. Towelroot worked!!! So I finished the instructions, and all went perfectly.

So maybe U may want to mention IF you check, it WILL show NK3, but not to worry. Then again, it may be just my phone that showed that?

Also, I think U have a typo under the "Running Towelroot" section, step #3:
(if it says installation failed, just try again or try again after you flash back to NF9, it's normal and it'll be updated)
That should say NK3, not NF9 right?

Well, enough of my nitpicking! AWSOME job, and we ALL thank you for making this work for us simply and with detailed steps (So us newbies to flashing phones can do it with confidence :victory: )

:good: Thanks Again!
