How to root Oreo?

Hi everyone!

I've bought online a new P10 lite that I'm going to get in a few days.

As it will probably come with the old 7.1.2, I will flash the firmware with the lastest Official Android 8.0 Oreo Update (unfortunately, I'm a new user on this forum and I currently cannot post outside links, but you can find it if you ask Google for "Huawei P10 Lite Official Android 8.0 Oreo Update").

I want to root this stock firmware. On this forum, the following webpage shows how to do it (I guess it is for 7.1.2) : https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/how-to/twrp-how-to-root-p10-lite-t3617418
... but I'm wondering, does this procedure work with the above mentioned Oreo stock firmware?

For P10 Lite (WAS) no Oreo!!! Oreo is on P10 (VTR).

You are correct, I didn't read carefully the link I referred to, I thought the downloads were Oreo firmwares.
However, Oreo for P10 Lite is about to be released (see twitter com/HuaweiPhones/status/957808377484148743)

I know that Oreo will soon be released Oreo for P10 Lite.
Your link on root for Nougat. On Oreo not work.

You are very funny, you wan t to a phone you don t have yet with a ROM that is not released yet your post is so useful.
Why do you think anyone can tell if root will be or not possible?
Many devices is posible to easy root in one version of Android and after upgrade is not easy any more.
U need wait first for we have an official Oreo.

Oreo is released in germany. Did somebody found something usefull? There are many tutorials but they are kind og shady....
Would be nice to get a update on that topic.
