How to root Sony Xperia Z without KingRoot

In some Internet sites, they say that KingRoot is an application that steals your personal data and your IMEI, besides, that consumes a lot of battery. I do not know how true it is, and that's why I'm afraid to root my mobile with this app.

I want to know
How safe is it, both the Android version and the PC version?
Is there any way to do root without using KingRoot ?.

I had root my mobile with help of flashtool, but after firmware updates, the process was difficult and, at the moment, I do not find a guide to make root with flashtool.

I currently have a Sony Xperia Z (C6603). FW release: 10.7.A.0.228. Customization: Customized CE5
