It didn't work for me.:crying:

Towelroot said that it wasn't supported. I knew I shouldn't have taken the update.
I have no idea what about towelroot never used it. . But you can easily get root on 4.4.4 by odin twrp thab flash supersu with twrp than run supersu. Piece if cake

first time user here, but was thinking of rooting my Note 3 for the hot spot and other benefits.

I took the 4.4.4 update the other day.

Can you get me a link or write up on how to root with 4.4.4? Thanks!

Sorry, I'm at the office now. But if you look up instructions to use ODIN and for some reason I first tried Phil's Recovery image and that did not take, but I tried it again with TRWP and that took fine. But I also put the file SuperSU1.94.zip so when I rebooted back into TRWP recovery I used the option Install Zip file and installed SuperSU from there. Rebooted back into Android, confirmed I had root, then download SuperSU from the Play store and everything now works fine. Full Root and on 4.4.4

Cool. Do I need to backup data on my phone to do this, or will pics/videos not be wiped?

I have all my pictures and videos on my sdcard. But it's always good to do a backup, you never know if you hit something wrong....in my experience it's always worth the little extra time to back up. :cyclops:

The TWRP will trip Knox right? Just so I know what I'm doing...

Also, does this step by step outline what I need to do, or is there a better one out there? androidcentral.us/2013/10/root-and-install-twrp-recovery-on-sprint-galaxy-note-3-tutorial/

The Knox part? Yes.

Still holding on the root, wanting to get a better idea of what and how, being this would be my first root.

Did you find the answer to this?

Ok, first what version of Kikat are you running? If you upgraded to 4.4.4 you are out of luck for now. If you are still on 4.4.2 NC5, you can use Towel root. This will give you root access, and will NOT trip KNOX 0x0 !!! However the minute you install a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM that will trip KNOX and void your warranty. REMEMBER Sprint will warranty your device with the KNOX warranty counter tripped 0x1 as long as you unroot the device before you take it in or sent it back to Sprint !!! If the device is hard bricked, there is no way to tell it was rooted and they automatically replace the phone. With rooted access and no recovery you can Debloat the device and run rooted apps. Enjoy !!!

I run a stock rooted 4.4.2 NC5 with Philz custom recovery version 6.12.9 hltespr. The device was rooted and warranty tripped the second day I owned it. I was in a Sprint corporate Store a couple of wks ago. Showed the tech my rooted note 3. He said I can't touch that, I said what if I unrooted the phone. He said no problem, now I can warranty the phone. He didn't care that the KNOX flag was tripped at all 0x1. Just can't be rooted when you bring it in for service. Sprint doesn't care about KNOX only Samsung cares about KNOX, When Samsung paid millions to the NSA to design a security system to track and spy on others than they care !!!

Jim, many thanks. I didn't want you to think you wasted your time by replying, I didn't have internet service where I was at. Your information is greatly appreciated.
