I am still on 4.3 on my note 3 and this root is not working. It hangs up after it reboots, I then have to do a battery pull to restart it. Is there an updated file that I need to use, I can't seem to find it. My phone is sprint fyi.
I'm unclear as to that which you're referring (I do not know whether you're running MJ4, whether you have custom recovery, &c), but do this, and all will yet be well...

Things you'll need...

PC Odin

TWRP for 4.3, version 2.6.3.7 (there is a later version, so hit the original dev forum for the latest), link below, hit Philz recovery in the original dev forum if you'd rather use that, goes on your PC...

https://www.dropbox.com/s/5t7oz141ub9nuqz/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.7-hltespr.img.tar

Chainfire autoroot, goes on your phone (this is an older version, but works, and you can update on the play store)...

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4jvmrwycelxgywv/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.91.zip

1. Power down phone
2. Load PC Odin (right click, run as administrator)
3. Put phone in download mode (volume down + home + power, simultaneously, then volume up at caution screen)
4. Plug phone into the same USB port on the computer that you've been using
5. If auto reboot is selected and grayed out, have your phone in palm of your hand, fingers at the ready, because you'll be hitting the home button and volume up simultaneously, very soon, think it through, imagine doing it, just don't do it yet), load TWRP in PDA slot if Odin
6. Keep your eyes fixed on phone, be ready to hit those buttons, hit start on PC Odin
7. When recovery flashes, and phone starts to power cycle, hit home + volume up
8. You're now in TWRP, navigate to wipe, tick dalvik and cache partitions (not mandatory, but never hurts), then hit back until at TWRP main screen, navigate to install, go to place on SD card where superuser resides, and flash
9. Done. Hit the play store for superuser to update to 1.93

Good luck!

I am using this information to root to no avail, however I have a question?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46818366
Are we to download the latest stock version of the firmware for the Note 3? Will the latest version work with this RDLV.sh script since it is from Oct '13 and the latest version of the firmware is more recent?
I tried to use the SM-N900V link for firmware but the root failed. Is that because it didn't match my phone which is a MJE build?

Hello Experts! I am trying to root my phone but it's not working. First the details of my device:

Sprint Note 3 N900P
Android 4.3
Software N900PVPUBMJ4

I have used qbking77's tar.md5 [for Sprint] file in Odin but my phone isn't actually rooting. Odin said pass; here's the report:

<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> CF-Auto-Root-hltespr-hltespr-smn900p.tar.md5 is valid.
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..
<OSM> Leave CS..

<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0)

After this the phone gets stuck on the 'Recovery Booting / Recovery is not seandoroid enforcing / Set Warranty Bit Recovery' screen. Since I know patience is a virtue, I left it there about 16 minutes but it never went to the rooting screen. (the red android guy with the eye patch in his video)... I tried rebooting but all it would do is loop. I pulled the battery and then the volume down + home + power start and choose to boot normal so I am working, just not rooted.

I have tripped Knox and my device status is "custom." I have confirmed with Titanium Backup there is no root access.

If you must know, I'm rooting because I do NOT want KitKat and it seems rooting is the only way to avoid it.

How do I successfully root this thing?

Try downloading the root files directly from Cf root, I did my root with those files and it worked perfectly.(Think they have modded Odin with all the settings preloaded, you just need to add the file in PDA and start.) Use same process as the video and it should all work out well. I had a similar loop in recovery, turns out I had no recovery, so I flashed TWRP and it worked out great.

Alternatively you could try the same method with Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time selected in Odin.

This is the link for Sprint CF-Root files
XDA did not allow me to post a link yet, new account.

Just google cf auto root, go to their site and look for your specific model, this case SM-N900P, click on file and download them. It includes everything you need.

Hello. I've been reading and reading and seems like there are many ways to root note 3 on kit kat. I just want the safest most reliable way without many steps. Last phone I rooted was the s4 while it was on 4.3. I stayed away from 4.4 and cause of the whole Knox crap. But screw know.

If you are stock and don't care about Knox or Kit Kat just do an Ota upgrade and follow the video on this post. Just be sure to google cf-root and download the files for your SM-N900P and it should be rooted easily. Then flash the recovery of your choice. I use Twrp but that's just preference.

Sorry to do this to you... I know it will be of some help though... I was having the same problem and discovered somewhere (couldn't tell you exactly where, it's late and I'm exhausted and didn't bother to take notes) that the cf root tar provided with qbkings d/l doesn't play nice with some Note 3's. You'll need to get an earlier version of the cf root to make it work. There is some thread, some where, I don't even remember if it's in xda, that has the file you'll need. Again, sorry I am of no real help, 8 hours into a 12 hour night shift, burnt out and foggy... but hey, at least I've given you hope, right?
