Yes. FYI, I was able to successfully unroot and return my bootloader back to its original, out-of-the-box ***LOCKED*** state for return to HTC. I followed the moonshine s-off method, then ran viperboy's script on the device to return the phone to the latest RUU, then used his tool to turn S-ON back on. Yay!

Good deal:thumbup:

Look up moonshine in this forum, that will root it and give you s off. Very easy to use :) trust me you want s-off you don't wanna go through the trouble of flashing the boot .img and kernel separate

To answer your question, the root method is the same on the EVO LTE regardless of Hboot version.

Assuming TWRP for the evo lte is similar to the twrp for the original evo, rooting is almost whimsical.

1) unlock device with htcdev
2) install latest twrp
3) one of the functions on the first run of twrp is installation of superuser
4) allow this, reboot
5) find the superuser installer in the apps list. Run it
6) It'll ask to reboot to recovery to install, permit it.
7) Done, enjoy beer and install whatever you need to that requires root access.

Ok but unlocking the bootloader with HTC dev won't allow s-off right?

Unlocking the bootloader allows you to install a custom recovery, from which you can flash ROM's. S-off is accomplished using Dirty Racun, Facepalm or Moonshine, depending on your Hboot version. You must unlock your bootloader prior to gaining S-off.

You can install custom recoveries just fine with htcdev unlocking. The issue is you can't flash kernels directly via recovery, but must do so through fastboot.

Among being able to flash radios, being soff allows direct flashing of kernels through the recovery.

IMO, while I think everyone should be soff, if you are a casual flasher who mainly wants root capability, go the htcdev route and leave it at that. While it is unlikely something will go wrong in the soff process, the chances are higher than just htcdev unlocking.
