your "informative" post is just a rehash of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089695

I'm not sure how that equals hours of googling etc
You're more then welcome to be the first one to try flashing experimental roms on your new xoom if you want, that way you can be first to tell us which method works for australian xooms.

Yes it is just a rehash of that thread, but that's because that's the method that works for aussies. Only way to tell that is to flash a few, brick a few, or read this thread.

There's a difference between copying someone elses guide and pointing out that the euro hardware is identical to the australian hardware

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise that the euro and aussie 3G xooms are all model MZ601.

But who am I to argue? you clearly are someone who knows what they're talking about...

Yes, nowadays its not that hard to figure out that the euro and aus models are the same. But back at the end of may when that post was written (not by me I might add) there wasn't that much info out about the aus model. We didn't know the model numbers and whether they were relevant to flashing. Now of course we do, and that's why this post hasn't been updated in a while. Don't have to be an ass about it. 7 posts doesn't make you king

That's right, my postcount has nothing to do with it, actually knowing what I'm talking about does.
What exactly are you talking about? You've confused me.

This thread is about information for Australian telstra xoom users only. If it doesn't help you, don't read it. Two weeks ago when the thread was created it was the ONLY place on the internet that specifically mentioned flashing telstra xooms.

nvm, not continuing this pointless off-topic argument.

Yet many of us were smart enough to realise the guide for euro xooms applied on launch day without feeling the need to copy pasta someone else's work without attributing it to them

I'm sorry, I have to reply to this one. Did you read the original post? You would have seen in the first paragraph:

I am not a developer or active XDA forum poster, I am a forum reader and user. The reason for this post is a lack of information regarding AUSTRALIAN Xoom rooting and updating on XDA (correct me if im wrong). This information is gathered from multiple different sources and I DONT TAKE ANY CREDIT FOR THEIR HARD WORK, nor do I take any responsibility for their instructions. Everything here is their work, however please follow the links for a more up to date process.

Can update apply to Optus Xoom?

Hi guys, can this update be use on Optus Xoom code M601?

I realized that XOOM is very unstable that the web brower crashes so often.

Video playback for 720p is laggy at times.

Then the whole system sometimes quite laggy and unresponsive.

I believe all of the above issues can be solved by software updates.

I wonder if updated version 3.1 address to these issues.

Of all my complaints, the worst part is unstable 3G connection.

The 3G connection just freezes and disconnect so often that it is such a frustration to browse web. I wonder you guys with telstra had similar problems?

never had a problem with 3g not working. But that's why you pay more for telstra - it works..... ;)

Can't confirm the browser crashing, i updated about 10 minutes after i brought it home and browser has never crashed. Text input is laggy as hell in browser though.

Not sure if the root/update works on the optus xooms. I assume it would (can't see why it wouldn't), but can't confirm without testing one.

Hope this all makes sense.

I'm sure you have, but just checking......

Make sure you push all the right files (build.prop, telephony files, etc) back after you update. Not sure what else to suggest sorry, should work after that. Actually, try flashing the tiamat rom (not just stock 3.1) if you're not already, this seemes to fix all the 3g issues people were having.

NEW BUILD.PROP FIXES MARKET LOCATION

Here's a modified build.prop that makes the xoom think its australian and released on Telstra. download, add build.modified to same folder as adb.exe and run cmd

adb pull /system/build.prop build.backup (you never can be too safe)

adb remount

adb push build.modified /system/build.prop

adb reboot

check out the market... (still called shop, working on that)

Help

Hi everyone,

I followed these instructions and had some success, but after a week or so I have lost 3G. Following the instructions again hasn't helped either.

I found the stock AUS and EUR ROMS on the MOTODEV website and have tried both. Both think that they have a 3G connection but no data is transferred. I have checked the APNs and still no luck.

Can anyone suggest what to do next? Now that its re-locked, I'm thinking of taking it back to Telstra.

Cheers,
Luke

Rooted and upgraded to 3.1 on my Telstra Xoom using the (old) Euro instructions and correct build.prop, but 3G does not work. I have a baseband version, I can make/receive phone calls, but 3G data does not work.

Eh, I'm fine for now and will flash to 3.1 again when Telstra releases the real upgrade.

What I discovered quite by chance is that the sim password option needs to be diabled for the 3G to work. I tried everything several times over and finally when I cleared the tick box viola, it worked. Have you tried this?
