Guys,
I have rooted my MZ601, installed the ClockwordMod recovery and flashed 3.1 using the instructions on this link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074609

When I got to step 4, I didn't do it as it related to the Verizon version. When I rebooted, the Xoom was caught in a loop with the honeycomb bootscreen animation never loading the OS. Can anyone confirm if I need to do Step 4 prior to going back to the instructions here? Any help would be appreciated. I'm currently back in the Clockwork Mod awaiting assistance.
Cheers
Shane

EDIT - Used step 4 and got 3.1 working. Just need to try and get the Australian 3G working now.

OK, 3G still not working. It was much easier with my HTC Desire to just flash the new radio's and then the new ROM.

Anyway, can someone please confirm the method for getting these settings to the Xoom. Are they pushed in this manner using ADB?

adb remount
adb pull /system/build.prop build.backup ##cant be too safe##
adb push settings.db /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
adb push settings.db-wal /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db-wal
adb push settings.db-shm /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db-shm
adb push telephony.db /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db
adb push telephony.db-journal /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db-journal
adb push build.modified /system/build.prop

If so, I am having problems with the last push. It comes up with an error saying 'Cannot Stat build.modified' and something about the file not existing.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Shane

Disregard, sorted. Now have 3.1 with all the bells and whistles including 3G. APN settings came up once I selected Telstra Mobile from the list of Network Operators available. Very happy with this ROM so far.

Sorry, haven't been on and didn't see this till now. Glad you got it all sorted. Welcome to the 3.1 party!

okay guys,
I seem to have lost 3G today for no apparent reason. I could see Telstra come up as an available network and it would give the message 'registered on network' but there was no connectivity or 3G symbol showing.

I need a bit of assistance with a couple of the steps as I can't even get a baseband showing on my Xoom since I have reflashed 3.1.

Firstly,
After reflashing 3.1 (HMJ37_HC3.1_Both_Models_BRDizzled) I flash the 'Bootloader patch 3.1) immediately after without rebooting.

I then flash 'HMJ37_root_sdcard_3G.zip' (have tried it with and without rebooting and have even left this step out).

I then push the telephony and settings files described in this thread but I am either ending up with a wifi only device or a boot loop on the honeycomb startup screen.

Can someone please provide some assistance as I'm thinking about putting stock back on and locking from the MotoDev site. I'd prefer working 3G to a working SD slot at this stage.

I have been pushing the telephony files through ADB while the OS is loaded. Is that my problem? Should I be in fastboot mode? Any instructions or if anyone cares to make a quick guide from reflashing of 3.1 on, would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Shane

has anyone attempted to go to 3.2 with an AU/Telstra Xoom yet?
You can't. 3.2 is only Wifi compatible right now

On another note, got my replacement Optus Xoom yesterday and its pre-loaded with 3.1. No battery drain issues which is interesting. SD Card works awesomly too

Cool, I'm hoping to get mine from Telstra at the end of the month so hopefully it'll have 3.1 as well.

On a semi-related note: Are the updates tied to the 3G network for these like a phone? So if I bought a Xoom out right from JB HiFi I would then need to get a sim for it & depending on that sim [telstra, optus etc] it would get updates at different times? [tried searching for this but couldn't find an answer]

Or I guess I could just root it straight away & hang the warranty

My understanding is that Motorola releases the updates by carrier and original equipment release date, however I think Optus has bucked the trend on this - eg. Optus released the Xoom 6-8 weeks after Telstra, and yet they managed to get the 3.1 update less than 2 weeks after Telstra (ie, should have been 6-8 weeks later).

So in reality, one could assume that both Telstra and Optus will get further updates (like 3.2) around the same time.

Regarding your issue with the SIM card, if you buy a Telstra Xoom, it has Telstra software and a Telstra HW identifier. Therefore, regardless of whether you have Telstra, Optus or Voda sim in it for data, you will get the updates when Telstra releases the updates.

Same goes for every other carrier in the world. :)

Thanks - your telephony & carrier pull-push notes were very helpful in me getting Honeycomb 3.2 Hammerhead ROM by Tiamat working on my Optus 3G Xoom.

Ta..

(CWM Flashed it directly from internal memory without sd ~ hey presto HC3.2 3G!!)

Yeah i have a AU telstra xoom and im currently running Tiamats 2.2 Moray (android 3.2) and my 3G seems to work fine (i have a nextG sim and it receives network, but i have no credit on it tho i can browse unmetered bigpond sites on 3G) plus ive gone one step further and done the SMS/MMS mod found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227503 and can send and receive sms and mms with go sms pro. So far so good. I've also just tried the improved video recording mod found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1210653 and its working well :)

edit: For anyone on Telstra 3G with the update. The instructions here work perfectly, just skip the 3.1 update part and use CWM to load the Tiamat 2.1 - Hammerhead (Android 3.2) straight from the sdcard. Works perfectly.

Can anyone confirm if the process in the first post of this thread still works?

Seems the Xoom is a bastard to root, so I don't want to screw it up, and if I lose my NextG connection, I'm going to rage.

I've just rooted my MZ604 using this method and everything is fine.
I now want to unroot it after seeing that unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty.
Is there any way to relock it?

Thanks, once again this guide has come in handy after I've flashed a rom :)
This time it enabled 3G on the ICS 4.0.3 Alpha build. (so glad I kept a copy of my telephony files the first time I did this).
3G on ICS - yay!!

Would you mind publishing your telephony files somewhere? My Telstra 3G version has an unknown baseband that I want to try to fix.
