Just wanted to check...

I have just used EOS rom to update to 4.0.3 and have backed up the files listed above but was wondering if i really need to push these files as the xoom works. Also wondering if anyone happens to have a copy of the telstraone apk used for tablets. (The one on the market is for phones)

3g xooming along

Hey guys, am new around here and to rooting and flashing xooms. Flashed my 601 about an hour ago and I'm thinking Team EOS should be renamed team genius. If you haven't flashed a rom just take your time and read through it and then if you've got the balls...do it! ICS is nothing short of brilliant. 3G, SD card and every other bell and whistle are working just fine. I am the proud owner of a telstra Xoom now without all the bloatware crap. Just as a note, flashed Nightlys #21 and if you hadn't guessed it works like a frigging charm. Want more updated roms so I flash the **** out of this thing!

So just to be clear do you use only the instructions on the first post of this thread?
or do I need to scan for updates/corrections that following first post?
ie has the first post been updated to consolidate any updates?

thanks and look forward to following your example.

Hi mtrax. Follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459641 worked great for me. Even face lock works for me which caught me by surprise. I'd scoured the forums about nightly builds and went for #20 as it seemed the most stable out of the latest releases. Good luck and let me know how you go.

Made a mistake there I deffo used build 21 not 20. Sorry about that.

No mate. Use the whole Team EOS thing, their files and instructions. It took me two goes to get it all to fall into place but its worth it. You'll notice in the instructions for Team EOS that there are two options. EasyADB is the first option and the one I went with. Just remember that when you do root and flash you will lose everything so be sure to back up your important stuff.

OK just checked the Team EOS page and couldn't find the bloody instructions. Just trying to find the ones I used so hold fire until I post them for you.

OK he goes, no wonder I couldn't find it it was on a different bloody forum

As I've just found out I can't post and external site link on here as I'm still a junior member. Email me at [email protected] and I shall send you the link.

The instructions in some parts may seem a bit confusing. Install Easy adb to the C drive on your computer and when you d/l the tiamat recovery copy that into the same directory. It's a zip file but it will auto install. I copied this file onto my micro SD card as well just in case. You'll need to copy the universal root there as well and to save messing about install the nightly from to it and the Google apps -Gapps- there also. Once you've unlocked and rooted it, then everything else can be done directly from the Xoom. To check and see if it's rooted just go into your apps on the Xoom and you should see 'superuser' installed. If it is then flash the nightly from and then the Gapps. If not go back and try the root again. I always copy and paste the code that is in the instructions into adb rather than running the risk of screwing it up somewhere down the line. Any problems then message me and I shall try and help. Good luck.

Help with 3g Xoom Telstra

Hi Guys,

I need some help with my xoom MZ601. I got xoom second hand and it had no 3g working. I got it cheap so nothing to complain about. But I would like to try and get that working as a exercise to learn more about rooting and cooking custom Roms. All the help I can get will be highly appreciated.

So here is the story...

When I got xoom, it had android 3.0.1. It had no 3g working at that point. I then updated the OS to 3.1 and 3.2 from Telstra. Still no 3g. So I thought I would root the xoom and get some custom rom installed.

After reading numerous post on the xda and various other forums on internet figured out that Team EOS rom was very well maintained and updated and so went with that. It is for the Euro xoom. But still cant get 3g. Searched around forum but no luck. Tried replacing the setting and build.prop files as mentioned in . Flashed different kernel and patches but nothing. Tried reverting back to the original firmware found on the Motorola website and got stuck at home screen with message "Tablet is not provisioned......". Cant do anything until I install a working sim. So rooted xoom again and used the EOS Euro rom for MZ601 again.

Below is current rom info...

Rom - 4.0.3
Kernel Version - 2.6.39.4 Tiamat-3.0.5
Build - EOS 1.0.0
Baseband - N_01.100.05P

Troubleshooting step taken

I have a working sim in the xoom which is from Telstra and have verified it on other device. I have tried different sim but same issue.

When I go to Mobile network and APN - I can not see any APNs in there so I tried adding new APN based on setting found on Telsra's website. It did not work.

I can search for the Network and it will load up the list of available network in my area including Telstra Mobile and 3Telstra, but when I select any of them will display message "Sim does not allow connection to selected network" - Atleast the antenna is working fine based on that outcome I think.

Also when I look at the notification area it says "No Service - Selected network(Telstra Mobile) unavailable"

I dont know much about what can cause this problem. I can get more info if need via adb commands (Dont know any myself but can look for them and post logs if requested).

Sorry for the long post. But wanted to get all the info out, so if we get this issue solved, it could be helpful for others as well as I have noticed lots of guys have the same problem.

Thanks for reading this...:)

My MZ601 is identically configured to yours with all the same versions of ICS etc. Working fine. I can swap between two prepaid Telstra sims, one from my phone and the second a dedicated data sim fine.
Could it be the radio/modem firmware?

Edit - I now see that as I have the same baseband as you we have the same radio.

Wonder if it is a sim thing. Could it require a Telstra dedicated data sim inserted into it to get the data connection going the first time? Unlikely but I cannot see how else our units differ. What Sims are you putting in?

I have bought a 2 dollar sim from petrol station to try out if the Xoom is locked and reason for not letting me connect to any network. But I was wrong and it still doesn't work with Telstra sim.

Last night I tried to pull some logs from Xoom via adb logcat and found some thing strange. I will attach log once I get home. It would be very helpful if you could do the same and post your radio logs here.

Thanks

I am not much good at logcat. Is the correct command adb logcat -b radio? If so see attached..
Yep that is the correct log. I will compare both the logs tonight and see what is wrong.

Cant compare the cmd line that I was looking for as it is created when the xoom is booted
As your xoom has been up for a while the old log was wiped off I guess. But I did find out that my Xoom is configured for the LTE and not GSM as I can't see any GSM commands to work.

I found this post on xda which suggest on comparing the MISC partition image with mine
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22042876&postcount=20

Reading this info about misc partition, it make sense that the partition could be corrupted.Source
/misc
This partition contains miscellaneous system settings in form of on/off switches. These settings may include CID (Carrier or Region ID), USB configuration and certain hardware settings etc. This is an important partition and if it is corrupt or missing, several of the device’s features will will not function normally.
And when flashing the custom rom only system, boot, data, recovery is replaced not the /misc

So the next thing I would like to do is to compare the Misc img

It will be super helpful if you could run below mention commands and upload the img file

In Terminal Emulator app execute following commands :
cd /mnt/sdcard
cat /dev/block/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/by-name/misc > misc.img

The file should be in the root of internal memory
Please share the file if possible. I have attached my misc.img file here for anyone who is interested.

@ logger : YOU HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL.... THANKS A LOT:)

EOS works very well

Yes, EOS make sure its ZEverest build, 1.0.0, its is great and all works very well, no issues so far, 3g is solid and fast, faster than HC3.2, ICS is amazing across the whole platform. No issues on wifi deep sleep, and battery is a weeee bit better. Cheers

I need some help with where does the fastboot pull the information from
Below is the out of 'fastboot getvar all' for Australian MZ601 Xoom which is incorrect

C:\Users\xxxxxxxxxx>fastboot getvar all > var.txt

INFOversion-bootloader: 1049
INFOproduct: xoom-cdma
INFOsecure: yes
INFOmodel: MZ600
INFOmemory-info: 0x101:0x5454:0
INFOmid: 001
INFOversion: 0.4
INFOversion-baseband: N_01.100.05P
INFOversion-baseband-2:
INFObattery-status: 64%:7.749V:0.9844A:36.75C
INFOunlocked: yes
INFOiswarrantyvoid: yes
all: Done
finished. total time: 0.946s

It will be very useful if someone can post here their GetVar info from fastboot for MZ601

Also if anyone can point to the file or partition from where this information is pulled out.

Thanks
