OZ Xoom 2 recover photos

Hi, I've been reading this thread because I want to try to recover some valuable photos from my Aussie Xoom 2. I hope you can give me some advice please. I can't find any other help specifically about my tablet, purchased from Telstra, model No. MZ616-32.

I was copying photos from my camera onto the Xoom 2 when it crashed and rebooted. (Discovered later that this was probably due to running out of disk space on the tablet.) When it restarted, most of my previously saved photos and all my movies had disappared.

I have been researching how to attempt to recover the files. I am happy to root the device, but have never done this before and can't find specific instructions for my tablet. Some posts indicate that rooting will delete all the files on it. But I want to recover files, so I don't want to try anything until I'm clear about what to do. I understand about how this affects the warranty.

I will be extremely grateful for any advice on recovering lost photos. Thanks.

Howdy,

Hope someone can help me out here.
I have a Xoom which basically the kids use for games.
Now the thing is I can't download most latest games for them as it says "your device is not compatible"
So if I ROOT the xoom will this give me the option to upgrade the OS to the lates Android version
which will then allow me to download the games they keep bugging me for?
Just so expensive to buy the latest tablet just for them to play games on, I have this cool Xoom and would
like to keep it in use.
Am I on the right track?

Cheers
