Hi, I have followed the instructions word by word, but its not downgrading to ***562****, after flashing when i restart the phone it still shows ***587""".

Any help with this??????

Regards,

Junaid
i've the same problem... someone help us??

Xperia st18i .587 with 4.0.4
same problem!
Hi,the sony mobile guide has stated it that

"Flashtool may show error after flashing kernel, no worries. Even your build number, android version won't change. Everything would remain same. So please don't go to phone settings to check anything"

For example,I didn't bother it and had successfully rooted my ray. Hope it helps. ;)

Actually I had the same problems as above. In flashtool the 562 kernel was labeled with device: ray version 111 and branding 000. In about phone after successful flashing it was still labeled 587. I still tried to root it many times.
At the end I tried all the root option in flashtool, and the "force emulator" method was the successful one :D
Flashed back the 587 kernel and then I was happy.

I have a LWW, but it's the same way.

  1. Download Flashtool | HERE
  2. Download CyanogenMod | HERE
  3. Download GAPPS | HERE
  4. Unlock your bootloader | How-To
  5. Flash the Kernel | Inside the .zip
  6. Enter the CWM-Menu | Power on, then when the LED is flashing, "Volume-Down"
  7. Mount USB-Storage
  8. Put the CM10.zip and the GAPPS.zip on the SD
  9. "Install ZIP from SD"
  10. Find the .zip's
  11. Press "Yes"
  12. Clear the caches
  13. Hopping in a circle

I'm a noob, but i did it.

PS.: The root comes with the kernel/ROM!

This is not a custom kernel, it's the stock kernel. You are even able to flash the stock kernel on a locked bootloader ;)
