How to test if your S-pen is flawed / erratic or not.

Yup.. Tested. Pretty significant waves on the right edge of the screen. Less so on the left. Happens in Spen too.

See attached s-note pic. Top right corner is the most screwed.
Note 2 Indian model.

i don't see this problem on my note 2, maybe your hands are shaking?
Seriously buddy? I hope you're joking.

Ok, guys, sorry again, was busy celebrating Eid, but I have found time, pictures attached, from left to right, obviously the far right being my phone with Phones4U's device's S-Pen. I was rushing, but as you can see from my previous posts, the difference, and I can certainly conclude that it is the S-Pen that has this fault and I would like for all of you to contact Samsung with this fault and issue a replacement with this thread as proof.

Let's hope Samsung acknowledges the fault and does not do an Apple "you're holding it wrong" fault. :D

UPDATE: Never mind, I went back to this device, and sadly it does too have this fault, I am in contact with Samsung, rest assured I will have this solved or this device returned.

yeah, im serious lol. other than the nano sized spot at the bottom right of the screen due to interference, im good.

edit: i am finding the issue as well there is another test i did, the vertical test, seems i can't draw a straight line on the right side. where i could on the left (other than the hand shaking lol)

glad it's just to the right end of the screen, im sure due to some interference, not a defect. and it's towards the end where i basically never use anyway. i highly doubt they can fix this with software.

I appreciate the efforts you too is putting into this. :good:
However, I am still not convinced that there are devices (or pens) without this flaw, since I have yet to see a convincing test with screen-shots. Like you mentioned, your test was rushed.
I agree it is harder to discern the wavy pattern in your rightmost attachment, but to be convinced I would like to see longer lines and at a steeper angle (somewhat steeper than "45 degrees") like in my initial image here:
http://wfurl.com/67f4046

To people claiming not being able to replicate the waves on their devices I'd like to see screenshots with lines almost identical to the ones in the axample above (regarding angle and length).

Like someone mentioned above he's tried 5 devices, all with this flaw.

(My phone was bought in Sweden by the way)

Just received this.........as if I didn't know my new exchanged device required a software update, I just had the device exchanged and it still produces the lines....wow....rest assured, I will have this fault fixed by Samsung.

Dear Tazur,

Thank you for contacting Samsung and I have pleasure in providing the following assistance.

In regards to your enquiry, we have forwarded the details on to our developers who are investigating it to see what the cause of this is. To me it appears to be a calibration issue/software fault as I have tried a few of our Note 2's in the office and have been unable to reproduce the same fault.

What is your current baseband version? Have you received any updates recently? Have you checked for updates?

Based on the image it appears there is a software update available for your device (Notification bar).

Based on my own tests it does seem to be software related, as the ones that I have been able to test (running latest version) have not displayed the same fault, but our developers will be able to perform further tests.

If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and we will be more than happy to help.

Kind regards,

Thomas

I did have this issue... I did try when I buy my phone. Basically I tried 2 note 2 , the first one is more serious, so I pick the second one.

I see this problem on my Note 2 too. It occurs on the right side of the screen. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the sensors on that side since it is where the slot for the S pen is. The sensors sense whether the S pen is taken out or placed into the slot. Not sure what type of sensors they used but I'm thinking it could affect the S pen.

I have this on the left edge on my screen IF the S Pen is set as left hand dominant. If it's set as right the problem is only down the right hand edge. This suggests to me it may be fixable with a software fix. I also checked 4 other units in local shops and they all have the same issue.

I too have that 'problem' but its like most things, its only a problem if you spot it.

Until this thread I hadn't spotted it. Using a straight edge I can draw a straight vertical or horizontal line but not a diagonal one that goes to the edges, so pffft to those saying people cant draw straight, lol

I cant imagine its going to affect me in the slightest but its good that others are pursuing Sammy over it.

Keep up the good work chaps.

S.

There is already a thread weeks ago about this issue... I noted before I got my note 2... I'm waiting for Samsung to reply my email.

This thread started a month ago (October 20) so this is the right thread to post in.

By the way...
I still have not seen a screen-shot with diagonal lines (going slightly more than 45 degrees) that do not show the "wavy/distorted" errors.
The Samsung-dude claiming not to have this error I believe is just speaking BULL (or more likely he's not testing it properly).

Good tip to use a ruler/straight edge to draw the lines!

I urge more people (yes, you guys!) to notify Samsung about this thread so they become aware of the issue.
