You dont need any of those apps. Hotspot works out of the box.
Configure the turn it on, you will see a Verizon window pop up that says to call for subscription > just press the home button and you are on.

If you press the cancel button it will turn it off.

I have unlimited. I am worry vzw will charge us extra for tethering. Most Our devices is not root yet. This works for letting people tether, but no 100% avoid changes. .

I also have unlimited and have used tethering for years and I have never been charged or had my plan changed.

foxfi

So does Foxfi work on the note 3 for a wifi hotspot or just tethering? I am looking for a new phone and being able to use the Foxfi wifi hotspot is essential. I don't plan on rooting the phone. I also need to see if there is a way to keep unlimited data...last person at Best Buy said they can't do it anymore....that also is essential.

Thanks for any input.

FoxFi works, you don't need it.

When you fire up the hotspot, you get a warning screen popping up saying you need a subscription to use that feature.

Leave that warning on the screen and push the home button and you're good to go......

I have found the best way is to add the WiFi hotspot quick toggle to the taskbar toggles and then freeze the SPG app.

That way the hotspot turns on just like a custom ROM & you don't get the VZ nag screen either.
I was so tired of that pop up every time I used foxfi. I didn't know how to get rid of it. Thanks.
